Summer has ended and fall is officially here.
Fall is the season of change, changing leaves, changing weather, and changing your relationship status to single. With the start of fall comes the end of dysfunctional summer relationships.
If you’re in one of these dysfunctional relationships, then you’re probably in a time crunch right now to end the relationship before the holiday season when you will have to buy gifts and waste money on a relationship that isn’t going anywhere.
Breaking up always sucks, but it’s a part of life that we all have to endure.
So, if you’re in one of these dead end relationships and looking to make a break for it, here are 6 places in New York City that might make the break up a little bit easier.
1. In a cab

If you want to remain friends after the break up, then this probably isn’t the best way to do it.
But, if you’re looking to cut all ties and never see the other person again, then this is in fact the perfect place to break up. You can literally jump out of the cab and escape from this diabolical dialogue at any corner.
Also, a cab is much better than an Uber because you have a much more anonymous relationship with a cab driver. If you break up in an Uber, then your passenger rating might drop and that kind of sucks.
2. The Metropolitan Museum of Art (1000 5th Avenue)
You’re not allowed to yell and scream in a museum. It’s like the number two rule after ‘don’t touch anything.’ With the ‘no yelling’ rule in mind, it will make the inevitable argument a lot easier to handle at a reasonable volume.
Also, museums are relaxing and generally pretty chill, so they're a pretty nice environment for breaking up.
Warning: this strategy has been known to backfire. If your boyfriend/girlfriend has an explosive personality, then this might not be the best move. Hopefully, you know the person well enough to know if their reaction will get you a life-time ban at The Met.
3. Movie previews
This strategy is similar to telling your dad that you crashed his car right before going into church.
He can’t yell at you during church, so there is a built-in cooling off period.
There’s always the concern that he or she will disregard the rules of society and simply yell at you during the movie, but if that’s the case, then you always have the option of simply walking out of the movie.
Also, if your soon to be ex is crazy enough to yell and scream during a movie, then you know that you made the right decision. Only psychopaths cause a scene at the movies.
,4. Strawberry Fields in Central Park

Breaking up is sometimes not about avoiding an annoying and embarrassing argument. Sometimes it’s about trying to let the other person down in as nice a way as possible.
Strawberry Fields is pretty sweet and it’s free, so no wasting money on a break-up date dinner. Leave them with the hope that Lennon had.
Also, there are always lots of people at Strawberry Fields, so lots of potential witnesses in case he or she goes off the deep end.
5. On the subway

Much like breaking up in a cab, this is not the move if you want to remain friends after the break-up. But, those friendships rarely last anyway.
However, this is a great move if you have no interest in ever talking to the other person again. The anonymity of the subway is great for breaking up, but it’s also a very public place just in case the other person freaks out and tries to stab you or something crazy like that.
The best part is that there will probably be someone in the same subway car as you who gets to watch and laugh. Isn’t that great? When one person’s pain becomes another person’s pleasure?
6. The High Line

Parks are a great place to break up because nature generally calms people down. The biggest danger is that the person you’re breaking up with pushes you off the High Line.
I’m not a doctor, but I think you would probably survive this fall with only a broken leg or broken hip. Who knows, you could even use your broken leg as sympathy to land yourself a brand new relationship.
