Hey New York City, you ready for Comic Con? Of course you are. You've been planning for it all year long.
It starts today, and it's going to be an insane frenzy of comic books video games, and action heroes.
It's four days of panels, celebrity sightings and signings, and lots and lots of shopping. According to AMNewYork, more than 152,000 are set to attend.
Comic Con is a rare opportunity for adults to meet and dress up as the in-person versions of the characters they loved as children. The excitement of the convention is unparalleled for comic book lovers.
And what better city than New York is there for superheroes? We're home to some of the greatest: Spiderman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Captain America, Daredevil, basically whenever the world's in crisis, NYC plays host to the invasion or danger. Not every time, but it feels like a lot of the time.
It's organized by ReedPOP, and since its first year in 2006, its 36,000 attendees have nearly tripled. The size of NYC's ComicCon has grown to rival the original ComicCon in San Diego's attendance.
The tickets are way, way sold out, so we really hope if you wanted to be there, you've already got your ticket.
This year's events include the premiere of the revival season of the The X-Files, new footage and news on Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Daredevil, plus, a reunion of the voice cast of the Justice League.
If you didn't manage to snag tickets, don't freak out. You can watch all of the reveals on the internet.
noraalys #nyccomiccon #comicconnyc #comiccon2015 I will be there tomorrow #Friday #Saturday and #Sunday as the main character in a new #comicbook Robyn is a cross between Katniss Everdeen from Hunger Games and Lisbeth Salander from Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. The origin trilogy (Origin, Wanted & Legend) takes place in both this world and inside the realm of Myst where a mystical city called Bree exists. In the first three volumes, Robyn learns of her destiny to liberate Bree from the grasp of an evil king. The Robyn Hood ongoing series takes place solely in modern day Manhattan as Robyn becomes a private investigator taking on cases of a supernatural variety. #superhero #investigations #soundslikeme 😜
Of course, there really isn't anything like being there for the reveals in person, though, and being immersed in the excitement of the atmosphere.
Then again, there are always little events on the periphery to look out for such as the Robot Chicken Premiere at Brooklyn Bowl, which you do not need a Comic Con badge to get in.
It's also a longstanding tradition for attendees to dress as their favorite pop cultural characters or invent new ones, so if you see Iron Man NOT in Time Square, again, don't freak out.
NYC's Comic Con will take place at the Javits Center from October 8th through the 11th. You can check out the list of events here. You ready for this NYC?
