Get Outta the Way, Will Ya? 5 Most Absolutely Annoying Walkers in NYC

The sidewalks of New York City are the epitome of controlled chaos.

To an outsider, the pedestrians seem wild and vicious like a pack of rabid dogs attacking a piece of raw meat.

But, a true New Yorker sees past the hardened, unkempt exterior of the mass of pedestrians to the elaborate, eloquent, and unspoken set of well-defined rules of traipsing the concrete walkways of NYC.

Anyway, vocabulary aside, here are the 5 worst walkers you’ll encounter while rushing across crosswalks and dodging doggy doo-doo in your adventures around NYC.

1. Hand-holding couple

We get it. You’re in love.

You know what we don’t love? The two of you taking up the entire sidewalk with your canoodling.

We have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to canoodling.

2.Pack of wild tourists

We totally understand that you’re from Nebraska and you’ve never seen a building that tall before.

But, we're hungover and we slept through our alarms, so get out of our way because we will absolutely ruin your photo-op in order to get to work on time.

3. Class field trip

When I first graduated from college, I tried to be a teacher and obviously hated it because children are monsters.

I dislike everything about them from their booger fingers to their affinity for stickers.

Anyway, children are savages and trying to spin move your way past the line-leader and the stressed-out chaperones can ruin your afternoon.

4.Texters

Most twenty-something New Yorkers can walk and text at the same time.

We’ve grown up in the age of technology and it’s second nature to us.

But, if you’re super old and think Facebook is the new novel by Nelson Demille than your texting game is probably not on point enough to attempt it while walking.

5. Professional dog walkers

To us, the existence of this profession is preposterous.

We know that these people work very hard. We're not necessarily blaming them.

We're blaming the people who buy a dog, but don’t want to do any of the work or are too busy to do the work.

We know that picking up poop sucks. We know that aimlessly walking sucks. But, you don’t get to have adorable Tinder pictures for free.

Step up your game. Paying someone to walk your dog for you is softer than Egyptian cotton.
