Everyone's talking about what to do for Halloween in New York City, how to scare themselves for Halloween in NYC, even what scary movies you should watch on Netflix to celebrate Halloween.
You can't walk into a Duane Reade or Rite Aid during the month of October without being bombarded with fake spider webs, cauldrons, and lots and lots of discount candy.
You're probably fending off questions from your friends like, "What are you doing for Halloween?" and, "Want to dress up together?"
You hate the idea of spending money on a costume you'll only wear once. You don't want to dress up with anyone, attend any Halloween parties, or even eat any candy than you'd normally eat on the weekend of the 31st.
So, we're here for you, Halloween haters. There are other activities happening in NYC during the week leading up to Halloween and the weekend of Halloween than just Halloween activities. Read on to find out what they are.
1. Tapped Craft Beer Festival (October 25th)

Tapped Craft Beer festival, going down at Barclays Center on October 25th, is exactly what it claims to be. It's just a beer festival that takes place at the end of October, and it has nothing to do with Halloween.
It has two sessions, the first from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the second from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be over 100 beers, wines, and ciders, to which you'll have unlimited access.

There will also be TV screen scattered through the Barclays Center concourse, so you will not have to skip Sunday football. There will be games and activities, and Taste of Brooklyn Stadium concessions that you do have to buy.
Get your tickets here for some good old fashioned beer, wine, and cider that have nothing whatsoever to do with Halloween.
2. Ride in the Tour de Bronx (October 25th)
dianeholly The start of The Tour de Bronx! Today I conquered all hills. #tourdebronx #tourdebronx2014
The Tour de Bronx is the largest free cycling event in New York Sate. Every year 6,000 cyclists ride a strenuous 40 miles through Pelham Bay Park, City Island, and the grounds of Suny Maritime College.
Or, riders can cycle through a much more relaxed 25 miles down Bronx Greenway bike paths, parklands, and along the shoreline.
40-mile riders should be experienced cyclists who are comfortable riding in traffic. 25-mile riders can ride leisurely and be of any skill level. Check in is at 9 a.m. and you can register here.
We're 100% sure this bike ride has absolutely nothing to do with Halloween, which is great news.
3. Watch the Brooklyn Nets play at Barclays Center (October 28th)
idontdoclubs On Wednesday, October 28, come watch the opening game between the #BrooklynNets and the #ChicagoBulls with #IDONTDOCLUBS! Get your Section 29-31 (Rows 11-20) tickets today at idontdoclubs.com/event/iddcbarclays! #IDDCBarclays
If you buy tickets to see the Brooklyn Nets take on the Chicago Bulls, we can't 100% guarantee that no one will bring up Halloween. We can't guarantee they'll play no spooky music and that no one will be in costume, but we can hope that most people will be wearing Nets jerseys.
The scariest thing about this is probably how bad the Nets will be, but other than that, we can safely assume that between tip off and the final whistle, no one in the stadium will be talking about Halloween. They'll be way too busy worrying about Jimmy Butler doing insane Jimmy Butler things.

It'll be the Nets' first regular season game, so it'll be intense. They're 0-1 in the preseason so far, but comebacks are what preseason's for, right? No. There's no hope for them. Strive for that eight seed, tho!
Grab a fellow Halloween hater and get yourselves to the Nets game. Spend a couple of hours thinking about basketball instead of Halloween. Sounds good, right? Grab tickets here.
,4. Go to the movies
soprosyne This isn't a game Philippe. One mistake out there and you're going to die. ๐จ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ป๐๐๐๐ #thewalk #movie #film #image #photo #picture #edit #adventure #biography #drama #robertzemeckis #josephgordonlevitt #benkingsley #charlottelebon #benschwartz #stevevalentine #jamesbadgedale #highwire #high #wire #wtc #worldtradecenter
There are plenty of movies that will be playing in theaters on Halloween weekend whose subject matter bears no resemblance to ghosts, costumes, candy, or anything even resembling All Hallow's Eve.
As far as we can tell The Martian doesn't mention Halloween once. We've seen the trailers for The Intern, and while Anne Hathaway looks super pretty, we're pretty sure they don't even talk about Halloween in that movie.

The Walk, a crazy movie about NYC, is scary in a way that has nothing to do with Halloween. It's scary in the way that it's like, a guy walking on a wire in between the World Trade Centers. Steve Jobs, while it looks super interesting, is absolutely not about Halloween.
Grab a friend who hates Halloween as much as you, and bring them to the theater. If you have no friends who hate Halloween as much as you, just go by yourself. #IDGAF
5. Go to a Halloween party dressed as "yourself"
We mean, are you really going to stay home the night of the 31st while your friends throw a Halloween bash?
Then, all your friends will be at brunch talking about who spilled beer on whose head, who made out with whom, and who made a complete fool out of himself. Do you really want to be completely left out during all these conversations?
[anad2]
We didn't think so. Still, don't give in. Show up at your friend's Halloween party wearing the same clothes you'd wear to any other Saturday night party. When people ask you what you're dressed as, simply say you're dressed "as yourself."
This is a foolproof plan, right?
