So you have a dog, huh? Do you hate leaving your dog all cooped up in your apartment while you go out to dinner, after your dog was just cooped up all day?
Do you hate the fact that other people get to bring their bae out to eat whenever they want, but you don't, just because your bae is a cat? Is that species discrimination or what?
It doesn't matter, though, because there are in fact New York City restaurants that not only allow, but welcome pets into their midst.
Most of them are only into bringing pets on nice, outdoor days. If that's your end goal, you should get on it, since we all know it's getting colder.
There are some supremely excellent restaurants, though, are completely unperturbed by their diners bringing their pets inside.

1. The Barking Dog (1678 3rd Avenue)
The Barking Dog's got a variety of menu options, a full bar, and delicious options for all three meals.
They serve American food, like burgers and fries, pancakes, steak and eggs, plus other delicious eats.

They're also completely dog-themed. That means they've got doggy water fountains outside, and that your extremely cute puppy is allowed inside with you.
It also means this is the best place on the Upper East Side to make friends with other dog downers. Besides Carl Shulz Park, of course.
2. Dinosaur Bar-B-Que (various NYC locations)

If you love barbecue food, you need to eat at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que as soon as you can. Order the smoked buffalo wings. The pulled pork and brisket combination will absolutely rock your world.
They've also got live music at their Harlem and Brooklyn locations. Which would be pretty much unbeatable, if it weren't for the fact that they also welcomed furry friends.
They've got an intense commitment to food quality and genuine hospitality, other excellent qualities for a delicious barbecue restaurant to have. Their menu is firmly rooted in the Southern barbecue traditions, though they do have their own delicious flair.
Well behaved, leashed dogs are allowed at their outdoor seats, so get there quickly before it becomes way too cold to sit outside.
3. Shake Shack (various NYC locations)
Now, you can love Shake Shack for more reasons than one.
We can think of at least three, the first of which being that their fries and burgers are incredible, the second of which being that their milkshakes are amazing, and the third of which being that your furry friends are welcome.

Shake Shack's even dog menu items for dogs: they've got a bag o'bones with ShackBurger dog biscuits made by Bocce's Bakery, and the Pooch-in, which are ShackBurger dog biscuits, peanut butter sauce and vanilla custard.

Feel free to bring your cat, dog, or pet bunny to The Bean's 1st Avenue location. We doubt they'll have treats for your pet bunny, but we also doubt they'll be miffed at its presence.
What their 1st Avenue location does have are dog treats and a water bowl to hydrate your pet. They've also got delicious pastries, amazing coffee, and unpretentious baristas.

It's a pretty lovely spot to while away a whole day, either reading in their no-laptops section, or surfing the internet.
They've got comfortable seats, outdoor benches, and we'll say it again: a welcome attitude toward pets.
5. The Half King (505 West 23rd Street)

This amazing pub has a phenomenal variety of drinks, and a delicious food menu. Their food menu is so varied it pretty much doesn't matter what you're craving - they're bound to have it.
Your dog is welcome here anytime during the day or night, which makes their amazing service, romantic backyard, and view to the high line even better. The presence of your dog will make your turkey burger and sweet potato fries taste even more delicious.

If turkey burgers aren't your scene, try the chicken panini, or the fish and chips. Pretty much whatever you order, you won't go wrong.
It does get pretty crowded here (it is right next to The High Line and all) but they've got two large couches for you and your furry pet to sit on and spend enjoying an afternoon.
