With bottomless brunch specials at most restaurants in NYC, it’s very easy to get carried away on any given Sunday.
Everyone knows that New Yorkers brunch harder than anyone else.
We will try to find any excuse to boozy brunch like: Your friends are visiting or it’s a pretty nice day outside... It really doesn’t take much.
You just want to drink with your friends. But, hey, we are right there with you! And that’s why we’ve made a list of the phases of a boozy brunch in NYC.
1. The decision to drink

Whatever happened last night-- however it ended, wherever you ended up, however much you drank then --none of that matters now.

You've come to grips with the choice to drink, whether it's a necessity to get over the hangover or too appealing to ignore. You're at brunch.
2. Drinking begins

The day often starts with a group of friends going out for brunch and when deciding what to get, the ringleader will say, “We’re all doing the bottomless brunch special, right?”
Everyone looks skeptically around the table at each other and with fear of being the party pooper, gives in.
"Yep, I guess we’re doing this…"
The waiter brings the pitchers of mimosas to the table and everyone is poured a drink. While you’re sipping your drink, you notice all of your friends just downed theirs.
Oh. It’s going to be THIS kind of brunch. You might as well join the fun before you’re the only sober person in a group of hooligans.
3. Almost buzzed

At this point you notice you’re feelin’ pretty great. Your mimosa glass keeps magically getting refilled by your friends and new pitchers keep showing up on your table.
Everyone is laughing at your jokes that normally only you think are funny. This brunch is going great! What a group.
4. Lil’ bit drunk

At this point in the meal, you realize some of your words are slurring as you tell a story.

Luckily, your audience is just as drunk as you are and still think that you’re a hoot. Phew. Killin’ it!
5. Definitely drunk

After everyone’s meals are finished, you’re left with exclusively alcohol. This is where things start to get a little rambunctious.
You and your friends are loudly reminiscing about some crazy college story and screaming over one another to add in your two cents.
Naturally, you begin to get some side-looks from the other patrons. They’re obviously just jealous that you’re having more fun.
6. Making a scene

Is that a party of cute guys that just sat down next to your group?
It must be, because your most forward friend decides to ask the group what they’re celebrating. It’s someone’s birthday! So fun!
[anad]
The excitement causes someone in your group to drop and shatter their mimosa glass. I guess that’s one way to cut someone off…
7. Everyone gets cut off

Most brunch places only offer endless mimosas for a certain time period and it looks like your time is up.
The waiter timidly brings over the check to your rowdy group and one of your friends thinks that you all deserve another pitcher.
“We were sat down 5 minutes late, so we have 5 more minutes!”
This explosion solidifies how much your group does NOT need an extra round of mimosas.
8. Leaving the restaurant

As you exit the restaurant, you apologize to the hostess for making a scene. Luckily, she’s seen this before and graciously let’s you off the hook. How nice.
But, one of your other friends seems to think it is preposterous that you’d apologize for the behavior of your friends and yells at you.
This happens while you walk into the light of day in your drunken state. What a whirlwind of emotions!
9. Realizing you’re too drunk to be in public during daylight

You and a few of your friends will decide that this is a great time to stroll through Central Park.
You see families with children throwing a football and others going for their daily run while you are just trying your best not to trip or run into anyone.
[anad2]
Darn overachievers trying to show you up. I guess it’s time for you to go home.
10. The crash

You get home and you think: It must be dinnertime. But the clock says: 4:00 p.m.?? And you’re this wasted!?
In mid-realization that you probably should be doing something more productive with your life, you heat up some leftover pizza and pass out in bed while watching Netflix.
Maybe next weekend you’ll be more productive. But, let’s be real. We’ll probably come up with another excuse to brunch again.
