Hey, New York. We know a lot of you are going to get out of the city for the holidays. You're going to jet off on an airplane to Florida or Michigan (why?) or maybe even California for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years.

If you're like us, you're going to inevitably procrastinate with buying your flight. You're going to put it off and put it off, and then, suddenly, you're going to have to leave in a week. Then and only then, you'll buy your ticket.

This ticket will cost you several hundreds of dollars, and it will hurt your soul to see that number drained from your bank account.

Well, New York City, we've got an antidote to that strife. If you book your Thanksgiving flight today, you will save a lot of dollars. Many dollars. Dollars you could spend on beer, groceries, or, you know, rent.

According to Orbitz.com's Holiday Insider Report, buying your Thanksgiving flight today will save you 5%.

Using information from past holidays, the report also states that Christmas flights bought on October 9th will be least expensive, and that New Year's flights purchased on October 10th are the most fiscally responsible.

"This early week in October is when prices are dipping the most before they head back up as we get close to the holidays," said Jeanenne Tornatore, Orbitz.com's senior editor.

We get it. We understand that there are reasons for leaving this city. Family's important, friends are important, a change of scenery is sometimes absolutely necessary, and Times Square is one of the worst places at any and all of these times of the year.

You gotta do what you gotta do.

NYC, we know it's hard. The procrastination monster is armed with a really deadly sharp blade. Just this once, though, plan ahead. Your bank account will thank you, and your family probably will too because you're able to give them an itinerary well before a week before you arrive.
