We've all been there: You're discussing a location with your friends and you say it's in Park Slope, but your boyfriend jumps in and is like, "Whoa whoa whoa, it's clearly in Prospect Heights." 

And then your friend disagrees with that because such and such neighborhood clearly ends at such and such intersection...according to whom?

Part of what's opened the door for so many ridiculous and absurd new (fake) "neighborhood" names like BoCoCa and WiNo is the widespread confusion over where many New York City neighborhoods begin and end. 

Sure, it's hard to misunderstand Alphabet City's borders (hint: anywhere avenue names aren't letters), but other 'hoods aren't necessarily so obvious. 

Since borders, or people's perception of them, can be sketchy, there's now an interactive map to help. DNA Info asked New Yorkers to plot their neighborhoods' borders, and the results are in.

There are about 280 'hoods cataloged by 12,000 people, and the results are kind of crazy. It's cool; you can jump over to the site and search any NYC neighborhood.

The results are color shade coded from 1-75 through 941-1130, meaning the more people agreed that a neighborhood inhabits a given space, the darker the shade is. 1-75 is light, 941-1130 is dark. Got it? Check it out.
