We're aware that it's super chilly outside. 

We can't think of a better way to celebrate the chill than by grabbing a super comfy sweater, a super comfy blanket, a cup of something hot, and getting out to the first edition of the Monster Mash-up MovIe Series. 

By something hot, we mean like hot apple cider, hot chocolate, or that jolt New Yorkers love: hot coffee. 

By the Monster Mash-up Movie Series, we mean there will be outdoor Halloween movies playing this fall in New York City's parks, and we're soooo excited. Here's why.

Summer movies were excellent, and we had our fair share of fun at them with our whole summer loving had me a blast vibe. What we didn't enjoy, however, was the incessant sweating that went down. 

Which is why Halloween autumn movies rock. Someone you have a crush on? Great. You get to snuggle under a blanket and grab their hand during the scary part rather than sweating all over them.

So here's our advice about the movies below. Grab your cup of something hot, spike it with whiskey, and head out to some of these outdoor Halloween movies with a hot date or a crew of pals.

Here's more advice. Bring someone who comforts you in the face of horror. Since all these movies are seriously spooky (well, Buffy the Vampire Slayer might not be that spooky, but you get the point).

- Shaun of the Dead at West Lawn in Sunset Park, Brooklyn (October 9th)

- Buffy the Vampire Slayer at South Lawn in Dyker Beach Park, Brooklyn (October 10th)

-Young Frankenstein at Brooklyn War Memorial in Cadman Plaza Park, Brooklyn (October 16th)

- The Addams Family at Kaiser Park Lawn in Kaiser Park, Brooklyn (October 17th)

- Killer Klowns from Outer Space at Owl's Head Park, Brooklyn (October 23rd)

- Little Shop of Horrors at Myrtle Avenue Lawn in Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn (October 24th)

- The Rocky Horror Picture Show at McCarren Park Pool Deck in McCarren Park, Brooklyn (October 30th)

Yes, all these movies are free. 

In order to snag a great spot, you should get there before 6 p.m., bring your own picnic blanket or chair, and movies start at sunset. If you wear a Halloween costume, you probably won't be the only one.
