You may remember when we wrote a story back in June on the man, the chef, the legend, Anthony Bourdain, opening a market on the Hudson River.

Yep, that's right. Books, TV, multiple restaurants-- all amazing --and now his own, um... what is it exactly?

Bourdain Market will be something like an Asian night market. Not Asian-themed, but in the style of those kick ass markets we've seen on all of Bourdain's shows; the kind he's strolling through in the middle of the night eating drunk munchies that look incredible.

It'll be located at the main concourse and mezzanine of Pier 57 and supposedly chock-full of awesomeness.

The idea is to bring the vibe of the writer-chef-entertainer-entrepreneur's previous work to life in New York City-- in a way that hasn't been done here before, or rather a scale, quality and consistency that are new.

Now, Bourdain and his partner, Stephen Werther, are assembling an army of butchers, fish mongers, exotic grocers, chefs, and a myriad of other characters necessary to pull off the "wet market" in the best way possible.

We're talking prepared foods stalls by some of Tony's favorite restauranteurs from around the world, an open air market for groceries of all kinds, a park on the roof, communal eating areas, and basically just tons of hedonism for your taste buds and all kinds of entertainment.

With developers expecting 20,000 visitors per day, the market may end up being open 24/7. As Werther told The New York Times, "I'd be so bold as to suggest that it will be a destination."

A wet market is a space where animals and fish are expertly processed and sold directly. We're not talking the fish guy in your grocery store. We're talking old school style, reborn with a Bourdain flare.

vtnikki24 Looking forward to Anthony Bourdain's new food market on Pier 57! #nyonair #anthonybourdain #bourdainmarket #pier57 #nyc

Frankly, we and everyone else in this city with half a brain (and an empty stomach) are excited as hell. We'd be very surprised if this effort falls short.

In Tony's words, "It will be all transparent and authentic. Not sterile but chaotic in a good way, with hawkers and vendors and places to eat. Where in this city can you have that?"

Bourdain's not known for doing uncool things, and this appears to be his biggest undertaking yet. We're soooooo in.

See you there?
