The fall is the best time to get dating in the hopes of finding someone worthy enough to withstand a whole winter of Netflix and snuggling next to the radiator.

It’s also by the far the most beautiful season and the perfect time to take in the scenic cityscape that surrounds us. 

These dates will not only give you the ideal opportunity to drink in the best parts of fall in New York City, but also help you find the person to stay in and drink hot toddies with when the weather gets cold.

These are the fall dates that will leave you warm and fuzzy and probably smelling like something delicious and pumpkin-y.

1. Bake and brew together

Pumpkin flavored desserts and hot beverages are the best excuse under the sun to spend the night in the kitchen where you don’t have to worry about who leaves the tip or about being intimidated by the couple having a steamy make-out session at the table next to you.

Boozy cider, mulled wine, spiked hot chocolate, and Irish coffee are the perfect complements to a night of amateur dessert making that will leave you both sugar high and happy.

The brilliant lights and river view from the Brooklyn promenade is only made better by the beautiful fall foliage that you can admire as you wander through with someone cute and interesting.

If you’d rather walk alongside your date with plenty to look at and talk about as you meander along, the Brooklyn promenade is perfect for you. With the chilly fall weather you won’t even have to worry about breaking a sweat.

4. Have a horror movie marathon

You can really learn a lot about someone by sitting through a slew of horror movies next to them. 

Whether you’re indulging in some truly terrible B movies replete with zombies and red corn starch, or creeping yourselves out with a cinematic wonder like The Babadook, movie marathons provide the chance for some quality snacking and quality snuggling.

You’ll have plenty to chat about with the parade of serial killers, ghosts, and possessed children that will be flashing across your television screen, and you’ll both get the chance to unwind and blow off some steam together.

5. Eat and booze at Smorgasburg

On Saturdays and Sundays through November, you can check out the endless wonders of this famous open market in Brooklyn. 

Fantastic food from local vendors, and a whole array of boozy creations will offer plenty to do, see, and consume while you walk through the massive riverside. market.

Artisanal culinary delights, beer gardens, ethnic food, ice cream, craft beers, and choice cocktails are all part and parcel of the Smorgasburg experience and should not be missed. Show your date a good time by eating and drinking the best of the best.

6. Carve some pumpkins

We all know Halloween is the actual most wonderful time of the year. 

Whether you’re the kind of person who butchers a pumpkin with some hieroglyphic gashes vaguely resembling a face so that you can leave it out until it slowly starts to rot, or you carefully sketch and design an elaborate picture with the neat cuts of a seasoned serial killer, carving pumpkins is fun and festive.

Why not skip the hit to your wallet and spend the night creating artistic masterpieces out of giant orange fruit? 

You can do it wherever--- head to the nearest park, cozy up in the warmth of your apartment, just make sure you avoid severing any fingers and moving the date to the emergency room.

7. Relax at a dog park

We all know that NYC parks are at their best when the leaves change and the weather is perfectly cool in the fall. There are all sorts of romantic times to be had at the myriad parks our city has.

You can put out a picnic spread, go to a yoga class together, have a nature walk, people watch on a park bench, grab a coffee and chill, listen to the non-annoying buskers, see some theater, or, best of all- see the dog park.

We particularly enjoy the dog spot at Union Square where you can nibble a pastry and cook up some great names for the canines all around you.

That special section where New Yorkers can let their dogs run free and you can see all of the puppies your heart desires- now that is the most romantic thing we can think of.

8. Sip and snack at Hungry Ghost (various NYC locations)

This top notch Brooklyn cafe and coffee bar is calm and cozy and absolutely ideal for getting a hot drink and a tasty bite. 

With a few locations to choose from within the best borough, Hungry Ghost is well known for their strong Stumptown coffee brew and killer menu.

The chai tea latte is the best in the land, the espresso designs are great, and the ambiance is even better.

You can get to know each other in a chill environment with plenty of in-store fresh baked goods to keep you both warm and happy.
