Four years ago, you may remember the controversy surrounding that Islamic Cultural Center proposal that would have built that aforementioned 15-story center just blocks away from Ground Zero.

Whether you fall on the "insult" or "religious freedom" side of the argument doesn't exactly matter anymore, as the project has been shelved in favor of a glimmering glass tower full of-- what else-- luxury condos.

And who exactly knows why developer Sharif El-Gamal scrapped plans for the Islamic Cultural Center for the condo development?

Perhaps it just wasn't worth the stress. Maybe, after all, it wasn't right for the neighborhood.

So now, New York City can rejoice in another condo deluxe development instead. Wahoo.

Prices in the area are around $3,000 per square foot right now. So if that sounds like it's in your price range, then get excited because now you're going to have more apartments to send your assistant's assistant to check out.

In fact, you'll have so many to choose from that some are speculating an over-saturation of luxury apartments; so you may need to hire an assistant for your assistant's assistant just to scope out all this real estate.

You know, a living space-vetting intern or something, because who really trusts real estate agents, amirite?

Now, what kind of gilded amenities will this particular building offer? Try a 50-foot swimming pool, concierge service, and a high-ceilinged private lounge. Sweet!

The tower is still a long way out, as ground is yet to be broken, but El-Gamal is blazing forward, aiming to complete the project in 2017.

So, are you ready or nah?
