Since, wait for it, October begins on Thursday. Who expected that? Well, all of us probably expected it, but it came a little sooner than we thought it would.

Anis Mojgani is a two-time National Poetry Slam winner, and he'll be performing his transformative poems at the Sheen Center with New York State Poet Laureate Marie Howe and Jericho Brown.

Rocking Dead: Bedlam is a play developed by members of Playing with Reality, New York's most excellent interactive theater company. It's an immersive zombie thriller, set in a nightclub at the end of the world.
The best part? Audience members get to play pivotal roles in this interactive, apocalyptic play, which explores morality and mayhem. The play debuts on Tuesday, but if you can't make it on Tuesday, don't fret. It will show until November 20th.

Wednesday, September 30th
3. Rangers vs. Bruins (4 Pennsylvania Plaza)
The Rangers are playing a preseason match against the Bruins on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden. The two teams will take the ice at 7 p.m., and if you love hockey, you should be in attendance.
The beer will be flowing, the ice will be freezing, and there will probably even be a fight or two. Isn't that what hockey's famous for?
We've got to say, we're not wild about the Bruins, but we're glad they're coming to NYC on Wednesday since, you know, the Rangers can't beat themselves anymore than they did against Toronto in the playoffs last season. Too soon? Never. Snag your tickets here.
Thursday, October 1st
4. Rock the Yacht

Rock the Yacht is this incredible 3-hour cruise with breathtaking views of the NYC skyline, DJ dance music, and a cash bar.

5. New Yorker Festival (333 West 23rd Street)
The New Yorker Festival will bring together wildly influential screenwriters, authors, poets, and journalists. You'll hear some great talks, fascinating readings, and stand-up comedy, film screenings, and tastings.
It's a three-day celebration of art and ideas, and we're all lucky enough to be in the right city to be a part of it.
Speakers include Toni Morrison, Don Delillo, Larry Kramer, and Junot Diaz. Jason Segel will talk about playing David Foster Wallace, and Abby and Ilana will talk about their roles in Broad City.

6. NYC Craft Coffee Festival (50 North 3rd Street - Brooklyn)
It's no secret to any of NYC's residents that we drink way more coffee than anyone else ever. Is it because we're way too sleep deprived?
Probably, but we're also coffee crazed in a way that has nothing to do with not getting enough sleep; a way that resonates in a genuine love for the hot, steaming stuff.
Check this out for yourself at the NYC Craft Coffee Festival on Saturday, where coffee lovers young and old will be treated to an immersive experience that will include twenty specially curated roasters and coffee shops.

Sunday, October 4th
7. Lower East Side Pickle Day (Orchard and Delancey Streets)
If you love the crunchy, succulent, perfect snacks that are pickles, you absolutely need to get to Lower East Side Pickle Day.
From 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the intersection of Orchard and Delancey, this festival that’s “kind of a big dill” will thrive in all its pickle goodness.
It will be overflowing with games, activities, music and dancing. The activities include a home pickling contest, a pickle relay race, pin the pickle, pickle trivia, and much more. The live music lineup includes Nikodemus, Gil K, SR Serge, and PJ.
