The New York State Department of Transportation (also known as the most efficient, best people ever) have been under task erecting a new bridge. No, it's not a major undertaking like the new Tappan Zee Bridge. 

Rather, it's a sweet pedestrian bridge landing in Riverside Park. 

As it stands, the problem is this: there is no good access point to the upper portion of the park from the neighborhoods immediately north of it. 

The train tracks and the Henry Hudson Parkway are in the way. For now, there is a labyrinth of 122 steps in a series of staircases that have basically sequestered the park from the handicapped or those with mobility issues.

State Assemblyman Herman Farrell acquired the funding for the new project which has been underway for about a year. After completion, we'll have a series of easygoing ramps and a 270ft bridge across the Henry Hudson Parkway.
