Remember that time we told you about the Uber of helicopters, Gotham Helicopter?
Yeah, we do too. That was a blast, wasn't it? Here are the Cliffnotes for those of you who missed it.
There's an app and it's called Gotham Helicopter and they'll bring you around the city like you're Justin Bieber for anywhere from $99-$219.
Well, here's some new information. There's another helicopter app and they're called Blade.
They want to bring you around while The Pope is in town, because if you haven't heard, most of the streets in Manhattan will be closed this weekend.
This app wants to bring you around Manhattan during the Pope's visit for $95. Flying is always excellent, and flying in a helicopter is absolutely the most excellent way to fly, short of turning yourself into a bird.
Especially during the time when getting around Manhattan's streets is an absolute no-go. Really, trying to take a cab this weekend will basically wind up costing the same amount as a helicopter. Blade will bring you around Manhattan like you're, well, The Pope.
Flights will depart from the Blade lounge at the West Side Heliport at 30th Street and the West Side Highway, and the Blade Lounge at the East Side Heliport at 34th Street and FDR drive for the morning rush hour period between 7:45 a.m. and 10 a.m.
This deal will also apply for the evening rush hour period between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
It only takes between five and eight minutes for the helicopter to get to you, so if the idea of taking the subway instead of Uber on Friday morning makes you retch in your mouth, then just get a helicopter instead.
That sounds like a good idea, doesn't it? If you don't already have the Blade app, get it here.
