Fall foodies, rejoice!
Autumn is back and that means there are plenty of fall-flavored goodies that you need to get in your belly before the winter drops an insane amount of snow on the city.
Whether you're taking in the montage of colors in the foliage of Central Park or sitting warmly by a crackling fire, enjoying a delicious fall treat would be the cherry on the cinnamon ice cream on your apple pie.
Between apples, pumpkin, figs, quince, and grapes, there are plenty of autumnal fruits and veggies to enjoy when they're ripe for harvest.
Combined with fall spices like cinnamon, cardamom, allspice, ginger, and vanilla, the fall bounty fruits and veggies become works of art.
If you're fattening yourself up in preparation for winter hibernation, these 7 fall-flavored treats are musts.
1. Apple Pie Donut from Catch Restaurant (21 9th Avenue)
nyc_mama Apple pie donut? Yes, please. 😏 The perfect ending to dinner 🍸🍣 with @skywalknllc. 👌🏻 #gno #dessert #catchnyc #applepiedonut #nyc #yum #latergram
Imagine an apple pie and a doughnut had a baby. That baby would be the apple pie filled doughnut from Catch Restaurant. Seriously, our minds are blown when we try to think about how they get the filling into a delicious donut.
As if that wasn't enough the doughnut is accompanied by cream cheese custard, praline ice cream, graham streusel, rum raisins, and caramel.
If you're dining with people who hate this take on America's favorite pie, try their s'mores pizza, which is served with burnt marshmallow ice cream, and milk and dark chocolate.
2. Sweet Potato Cake from Spot Dessert Bar (various NYC locations)
Now before you go "ewwww," here us out.
One of the best Thanksgiving dishes is usually the sweet potato casserole topped with gooey, sickly-sweet marshmallows.
Don't deny it. We know you were that kid who would pick the slightly roasted marshmallows off the top of the sweet potatoes until you finally got a taste of the orange, sugary side dish.
Once you finally tasted the casserole itself, you were pleasantly surprised at how wonderfully delicious a vegetable could taste (although it was drenched in butter and sugar and all things unhealthy, but still...).
Imagine that all wrapped up in a fluffy cake, topped with spiced brown sugar cream, creme fraiche with a side of sautéed apples, and you have your new favorite fall dessert. You're welcome.
3. Pumpkin Whoopie Pies from One Girl Cookies (various NYC locations)

For some people, a pumpkin whoopie pie from this Brooklyn bakery marks the official start of the fall.
These little beauties consist of two delicate pumpkin pillows sandwiching a dollop of slightly sweet but not too sweet cream cheese frosting.
If you've never had a whoopie pie before (have you been living under a rock?), you need to get yourself to one of One Girl Cookies' locations to enjoy one of these fall-flavored treats for yourself.
4. Apple Cider Doughnut from Carpe Donut NYC (mobile food truck)
One of the best things about getting doughnuts is the flavor bomb in your mouth when you bit into one when they're hot and fresh. What's the benefit of getting a doughnut from a food truck? They're just that- hot and fresh.
While it may be difficult to find Carpe Donut, they do post their location on their Twitter. That way you know exactly where you can find yourself some of the best apple cider doughnuts in New York City.
Don't forget to order some hot apple cider to sip along with your warm apple cider doughnut. If that's not fall enough for you to break out your flannels, sweaters, scarves, mittens, and boots, then we honestly don't know what will.
If you want to taste fall, this is it.
,5. Maple Bourbon Walnut Pie from The Blue Stove (415 Graham Avenue - Brooklyn)
We're big fans of pie. We're also big fans of bourbon. When you combine bourbon with maple syrup and walnuts? We're sold.
If you're going to have as much pie as you can stuff your face with this fall, you need to have a slice of this pie (or the whole darn thing).
If you're feeling really adventurous, buy the a pie and bring it to some friends (we can be your friends....). Then whip up some bourbon whipped cream, throw on a dollop, and dig the heck in.
Allergic to nuts? We feel ya. Grab some of their apple pie instead. This American classic is just as fall and won't disappoint.
6. Brown Butter Honey Pecan Pie from Petees' Pie Company (61 Delancey Street)

Whether you're a transplant from the south or a native New Yorker, call it pe-CAN or pe-caan, say y'all or you all, you just have to try this hella good pie.
Traditionally, pecan pies are made with corn syrup, but Petees' has decided to bake their pies with NY apple blossom honey. They also use organic brown sugar. We're pickin' up what they're throwin down here.
If none of that interests you, how about this- they use browned butter to add more flavor. When have you ever gone wrong with too much butter? Well ok, we've all added an extra stick or two when throwing together some cookies, but that mistake doesn't apply here. We're talking about the fact that the browned butter just gives this pie more fall flavor. Who doesn't want more fall flavor? Um, no one.
7. Fig Tartelette from Cafe Boulud (20 East 76th Street)

We're big on the figs. Whether paired savory with some excellently stinky cheeses and drizzled with honey, or wrapped with prosciutto and grilled, we're seriously big on the figs.
If you're like us, you need to get yourself over to Cafe Boulud for their fig tartelette. Their figs are poached and placed atop caramelized puff pastry, hazelnut flan, and sheep's milk yogurt sorbet.
Oh, whats that sound? Thats the sound of us calling up Daniel Boulud for some of this culinary gold. Just kidding. We wish we knew Daniel Boulud. Instead, we'll just take the fig tartelette.
