Summer meant sundresses and bathing suits and tank tops. It meant you had to feel guilty about that fourth slice of Artichoke Pizza and stay away from The Melt Shop.
Fall well, doesn't. Fall means big comfy sweaters and knitted scarves and corduroys.
Gooey comfort food is encouraged in fall to go along with all your warm, comfortable clothes. The days of stress about a beach bod are for another season, and muffins, pie, and lattes are all ragin' to be eaten.
The one trouble with all of these fall clothes is, of course, the propensity to lose them. The best part of them is how nice it is to bundle up in cozy little layers.
Read on and get ready to snuggle into the 7 types of clothing you're extremely amped to wear now that it's fall in New York City (well, almost, but you get where we're going with this).
1. Peacoats

Likely, you have emotional feelings about your peacoat.
It's got huge pockets, for one, which makes bringing things around so much easier. Things like your music, your keys, and cell phone are so much more easily transported in the huge pockets of your pea coat in fall than they were in summer.

Plus, who hasn't used their coat as a pillow? We know we have. The point is, pea coats are comfortable and stylish. They make you look good, and feel warm.
#PeaCoatsForever for the win.
2. Corduroys
Corduroys are the sweatpants of adulthood, and introducing them back into the fall equation is incredible.
Coming in all sorts of colors, with every color as a comfortable color, corduroys are one of fall's greatest pleasures. Throwing on corduroys on the morning of a chilly day warms you right up, in addition to making you look amazing.
Once again, you get to be warm and comfortable all day, in a variety of warm and comfortable colors. Make a statement in purple corduroys, make an even bigger statement in orange corduroys, or play it safe in black or gray.
Regardless, we think we can all agree that corduroys are where it's at.
3. Sweaters
forever21 Let's cuddle. And by cuddle, we mean buy us some new jeans, a textured sweater and a new bag. Kay thanksss. #F21xMe @emmahill #ForeverYou (shop link in bio)
Holler to all the sweaters out there!
Wearing sweaters makes us look badass while being entirely comfortable. Get to Urban Outfitters or Forever 21, or hell even H&M get one of those really cool, really good looking knitted sweaters.

Wearing a really comfortable sweater is like walking around all day with a blanket on your body and looking good while doing it. Stay away from the itchy, irritable sweaters.
4. Boots
stevemadden His and hers TROOP-L and TROOPA2-0 combat boots are the perfect partners in crime for causing mischief. Hit the link in our bio to shop the Past Curfew lookbook now.
Get to Steve Madden's many New York City locations to check out the new fall styles in boots.
Easy to maneuver the city's sidewalks, boots make walking much more joyful than wedges or flip flops ever did. Whether you get boots with laces or zippers, whether your boots are leather or suede, the point is that wearing boots is way more badass than flip flops.
,5. Mittens

Mittens are excellent for fall, provided you don't lose them. Losing mittens is all too easy and severely depressing.
Contrary to popular belief, though, mittens are warmer than regular gloves because all your fingers are clustered together in mittens, so your fingers can share body heat.

The main problem though is that functioning in mittens is difficult. Things like opening doors and text messaging become downright impossible. So maybe you'd be better off getting a pair of those gloves you can text in.
6. Comfy socks
Have you ever had one of those fluffy pairs of socks from Nordstrom? The kind of socks where you've briefly considered taking to congress to rally for the right to marry articles of clothing?
If it were legal for humans to marry clothing, you might have married that pair of socks.
Putting on those warm, cozy socks at bedtime amidst, perhaps, some lit and scented candles makes for some of the best bedtimes on the planet.
7. Blankets
While not technically an "item of clothing" per say, blankets are one of the greatest pleasures of life. When the chilly weather starts swirling in with the breeze, we are all of the sudden able to appreciate this life pleasure so much better.
[anad2]
In summer we were forced to forsake our blankets, cast them off lest we wake up at 3 a.m. covered in sweat with no hope of falling back asleep. Now that it's fall again, we get to bundle up under our blankets, cozy as ever before.
