Can you imagine getting from Delancey Street in the East Village to Williamsburg in five minutes?

How about getting from Williamsburg to Long Island City in 12 minutes? Or maneuvering effortlessly between two points located in the most notoriously dead subway zone, between Williamsburg and Brooklyn Navy Yards?

We know, it sounds like a pipe dream doesn't it? Here's the thing, though. The East River Skyway plans to morph that fantasy into reality. 

How, you're wondering? Well, with gondolas of course!

The plan is green, as in, it creates no emissions. It's also three times safer than buses and trains, while simultaneously efficient, with the potential to move more than 5,000 people per hour in both directions.

It would also solve a problem with which we're all too familiar; the sluggish L line. 

The fact of the matter is that traffic at Bedford Avenue has increased by more than 50% since 2007, residential growth has increased exponentially in Williamsburg during the last decade, and building a new line is economically out of the question.

Plus, this glorious proposal would also involve iconic views of the river and the New York City skyline.
