You've probably heard that Facebook might soon be implementing a "dislike" button as a counterpart to its long notorious "like" button.
During a live question and answer session on Tuesday, Mark Zuckerberg announced the company was testing alternatives to the "Like" button.
"People have asked about the 'dislike button for many years. Today is the day that I actually get to say we are working on it," Zuckerberg said.
The button may not actually be called "dislike," but will be designed to show empathy for posts that aren't appropriate to "like."
We're relieved about this information, because for far too long we've had to resort to "liking" things we certainly did not actually like so we could interact with information. Do we "like," the fact that the Beyoncé concert is sold out? Absolutely not!
Now, we no longer have click like when we're barraged with information we in fact don't like.
Read on to see these posts we'll now be able to joyously "dislike."
1. We can tell the MTA we're not cool with delays
We understand you work hard to get service back to normal, MTA, but we also heard it's going to take the MTA 52 years if they (ever) want to get every subway station to a state of good repair.
Again, MTA, we're astounded by the extraordinary feats you accomplish daily by transporting so many people and bringing us all to work. What we're really not cool with, though, are trains that aren't up to SGR code.
2. We can also tell the MTA we're not stoked about the G train
We were utterly perplexed by the MTA's announcement that their worst, oldest, and most unreliable trains would be remaining on the tracks until 2022.
Now, when the G train derails or does its usual glacial traveling pace, we'll finally have the means to express our discontent to the MTA. Thanks Facebook!
3. We can commiserate with Jeremiah's Vanishing New York
We hate "liking" the news that another one of our beloved NYC institutions hit the road.
Now we don't have to. Now, when we get news that really, really bums us out, we can simply "dislike" that news. We can all agree that works better, right?
4. We can react to the end of summer
We want to, appropriately, dislike the news that we'll have to wait an entire season to go kayaking.
From here on out, we'll be able to!
5. We can interact with terrible weather
Until now, however, liking these terrible posts was our only option for acknowledging them.
Well, now when we find out it's going to be raining all day, we can "dislike" that sh*t.
