Well, it is. 

The game, designed by Nintendo, was released on September 13th, 1985 in Japan as a pseudo-sequel to the Mario Bros. original. 

It was released in America later that same year, where it went storming through our homes as a collective obsession. 

And today marks the 30th anniversary of the iconic, classic, all-consuming game Super Mario Bros.

Back in 1985, the folks over at Nintendo couldn't have even guessed to what degree Super Mario Bros. would become a household name in the States. 

So in honor of Super Mario Bros.'s 30th birthday, watch the evolution of the plumber who started it all in the video below, brought to you by the folks over at Digg.
