Have you noticed free Wi-Fi on the New York City subway lately? 

Likely, it's occurred to you that while treading down to the subway used to suck you into a communication-less hole, now you can read texts, watch YouTube videos, and check emails. 

That, New York City, is the absolute best. Since Transit Wireless's initiation, Wi-Fi has been saving New Yorkers' lives left and right. Want some facts about this phenomenal service? 

Great, because we've got 'em. 

Did you know more than 50% of the users are logging in from an iPhone or iPad?

That information isn't too surprising to us, as we're way more likely to log in on our cellphones than to pull out our clunky computers. 

Also, did you know Times Square is the station with the most Wi-Fi logins?

Again, we're not shocked by that tidbit. Especially since Times Square is the station with the most riders on a typical weekday, with an average of 182,170 riders using it daily.

The majority of Wi-Fi users are between the ages of 25 and 44, which again, doesn't floor us. Millennials are definitely the constituent of New Yorkers who can't handle the mystery of whether anyone's sending them texts.

What does surprise us, though, are mushrooming number of Wi-Fi users. More than half of daily users daily are logging in for their first time.

Transit Wireless Wi-Fi's racked up 20 million logins in 2015, with more than 119,000 logins on July 23rd alone.

Why did so many people login on that day? We can only speculate, but our best guess is that everyone in NYC needed to find the perfect hot dog restaurant to celebration National Hot Dog Day.
