It turns out the Nordstrom Tower has lost its spire. 

Since it hasn't been built yet, it's hard to really use the word lost, but the new plans for the building reveal that it won't have a spire; even though earlier plans reported it would have a spire, and would be 1,795 feet tall.

Even without a spire, the Nordstrom Tower will still be the tallest building in the country, stretching past the 1,450-foot tall Willis Tower in Chicago and the 1,397-foot tall 432 Park Avenue.

The most recent construction documents allowed Yimby to create updated renderings of the behemoth of a building. The Nordstrom Tower's PR team, however, insists that these are not the final plans.

When all is said and done, the Nordstrom Tower will stand at 1,550 feet with 99 floors.

Architects Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill hope the tower will transform New York City's skyline in a positive way, resembling a taller and more angular version of their Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago.

It's been dubbed "Central Park Tower," even though it's not on the Park. 

In fact, 220 Central Park South will obstruct a huge chunk of the first 1,000 feet of Nordstrom Tower's Park views.

Hopefully, however, this new tower will result in the expansion of Midtown's luxury market and therefore produce more jobs and tax dollars for the city.

We are determined to stay positive about this alteration of Manhattan's skyline.

Because for now, construction is underway, cranes have risen, and the 1.3 million square foot project is expected to conclude in 2019. Hating the building won't make it not happen. 

Who knows, maybe we can even get a free apartment by signing on as building manager, right?
