Artists & Fleas is not exactly an art gallery, and it's not exactly a flea market. 

It's described as a "marketplace to bring together emerging artists, indie designers, vintage collectors and enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a place to show and sell together."

The idea is that the products for sale are always changing, as the different vendors cycle in and out of the spaces. 

And yeah, the retailers are always changing, but our favorite at the moment is Raggin' Rights, a NYC-based apparel company that's absolutely killin' it right now. 

But if you'd like to check out the New York City flea markets, it's important to know that they're not necessarily always open, right? Right. 

That being said, Raggin' Rights is being featured in Williamsburg's Artists & Fleas at 70 North 7th Street this weekend (it's open Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.). 

The other NYC location is in Chelsea Market; that location much more consistent. At 88 10th Avenue, it's open seven days/week, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

So what else can you get in these artsy flea market-ish type "stores?" Well, like we mentioned above, since vendors are constantly changing, so does the gear.

What you can depend on is design-related, vintage, artistic items at generally reasonable prices. But remember, we're talking Williamsburg and Chelsea, so their idea of reasonable might be different from yours. 

For example, a Raggin' Rights tee-- designed for, in, and by New York City-- retails for just around $30. Now, compare that to LES "urban casual" boutiques charging upwards of $60 for similar type apparel, and you see the value.

Plus, Raggin' Rights are locally-made shirts, screened in Brooklyn, and designed by kids from the Bronx... seriously, you just can't get anymore NYC than that. 

So go check out what's up at the Williamsburg location this weekend. Or basically whenever you want before 8 p.m., head over to Chelsea and do your thing.
