What does autumn mean to you?
Does it mean pretty leaves, lattes, turkey, and comfy boots? Or does it mean the Vendy Awards, Bushwig, Archtober, Halloween, and Thanksgiving?
Luckily for all of us here in New York City, autumn means all of the above.
We get to welcome the coming of chill breezes, gorgeous leaves, and much more manageable weather. We get to do all of this alongside some of the most lovely and famous events in the country.
So what should you attend to ensure you have the best fall you've ever had?
We've organized a compilation of autumn must-dos below. These 13 events reminded us, for something like the hundred millionth time, that we really do live in the best city in the world.
1. New York Fashion Week (September 10th - September 17th)
The world's biggest designers convene in NYC every year to show off their new collections for Fashion Week, which will be held this year from September 10th through the 17th.
This installment of the famous bi-annual fashion event will showcase the Spring 2016 collections of designers like Carolina Herrera, Tommy Hilfiger, Donna Karan, Nicole Miller, and Ralph Lauren.
Luckily for all the fasionistas out there, the city is chock full of Fashion Week events and parties.

2. Bushwig (September 11th - September 13th)

Conceived in 2012 to celebrate the queer and drag music thriving in Brooklyn, and inspired by Wigstock, Bushwig strives to serve the cutting-edge drag and music of the world in this epic celebration.
This year's festival includes more music, more drag, and more spaces as it switches venues from its "spiritual" home Secret Project Robot down the street to the garden of Onderdonk House.

3. Vendy Awards (September 12th)

The Vendy Awards is a street food competition series dedicated to determining the "best of the best" in street food.
Your ticket will enable you to feast on delicacies from more than 25 food vendors, unlimited beer from Brooklyn Brewery, and wine from the Santa Cristina wine bar.
So if you love eating and good times, gather among thousands of others on Governors Island on September 12th from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. to dine, drink, and vote. Winners are decided by ticket holders, a panel of celebrity judges, chefs, television personalities and city officials.

4. The Dopest TBT (September 17th)

Do you miss your childhood, dancing to the Macarena, waiting for dial-up internet, and burning mix-tapes? Okay, fine, we don't miss dial-up internet either, but we do miss the rest of it.
So on September 17th at 7 p.m., we're going to get down hard with Tablelist for The Dopest #TBT Ever at the Hudson Terrace. This incredible party will include an open bar from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., rocking jams from DJs Franco Finelli, Rodney Hazard, and Nick Zallo, and stomach-dropping views.

5. Steuben Parade's Oktoberfest in Central Park (September 19th)
You don't need to drop thousands and fly to Munich to celebrate Oktoberfest. In fact, you can celebrate it right here in NYC, right in Central Park.
This celebration will include lots of beer, lots of bands, and lots of beer-induced fun. The German-American band "SPITZE" will jam out, amidst other traditional and modern German music, including Grammy nominee Alex Meixner.
It's all happening at the Rumsey Playfield from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on September 19th. Hungry? Fear not. This parade also offers a variety of German food, beer, and wine. Get your tickets here.
6. Atlantic Antic (September 27th)

This street festival, held every year on Atlantic Avenue between 4th Avenue and Hicks Street in Brooklyn, brings together thousands of people to celebrate food, art, music, shopping, festivities, and good times.
The Atlantic Antic is a living tribute to the conglomeration of heritages that coexist in Brooklyn. Plus, it's the largest street festival in NYC. It's got food options from local and national vendors and delectables from trendy restaurants and boutiques.
There will also be several live music stages showcasing amazing free performances, pony rides, story telling, and face painting.
The delicious food will represent an array of ethnic cuisines. It'll be a blast, and completely delicious. It's all going down on Atlantic Avenue, rain or shine, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

7. Archtober (October)
October is Architecture and Design Month, and NYC is celebrating in a big way. This year is the 5th annual month-long festival of architecture activities, exhibitions, and programs surging through NYC all month long.
Since NYC has some of the most stunning architecture on the globe, it makes sense to devote an entire month to celebrating our buildings' radiance.
Archtober programs include tours, lectures, films, and exhibitions that highlight the impact of architecture and design on everyday life. If you love, dream about, and are fascinated by buildings, get yourself out to the meet-and-greets, lectures, films, and tours that this month-long event has to offer.
,8. New York City Wine & Food Festival (October 15th - October 18th)

The NYC Wine & Food Festival is the only festival in NYC to collide culinary experts with celebrity chefs, mixologists, wine connoisseurs, mixologists and foodies to unite in joy and feasting over amazing food and drinks.
The best part about this festival (besides all the stunning, delectable food) is that 100% of this event's proceeds are dedicated toward ending world hunger.
Festival events include intimate dinners, late-night parties, brunches, hands-on classes, wine tastings, plus many more. Workshops and seminars are offered alongside cake decorating class taught by Martha Stewart and pizza and pasta class taught by Justin Smillie.

9. Open House New York Weekend (October 17th - October 18th)
NYC has some important buildings where people spend every day striving to keep our city running.
From historical to modern, residential to commercial, hundreds of buildings throughout the five boroughs are open for visits, tours, talks, and performances during Open House New York Weekend.
OHNY Weekend strives to empower NYC's citizens to deepen our understanding of urban design, and to meet the people who design, build, and preserve NYC.
Buildings available for tours and talks in 2014 included the Bronx Museum of the Arts, Edgar Allen Poe Cottage, the Brooklyn Historical Society, and the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House. This year's buildings will be posted right here in early October.
10. BAM 2015 Next Wave Festival (September - November)

This annual event features cutting-edge music, theater, and dance from around the world. It's permanently altered the artistic landscape in NYC, featuring breakout performances and landmark productions.
This year's festival will follow the tradition of highlighting exciting new works and cross-disciplinary collaborations.
Performances are staged in the stunning 2,100-seat Bam Howard Gilman Opera House, the 1,000-seat Helen Carey Playhouse, the 874-seat BAM Harvey Theater, and the 300-seat Lepercq Space.

11. Giant Pumpkin Carving Weekend (October 24th - October 25th)
Giant pumpkins from around the world were flown to the Haunted Pumpkin Garden for this magical, wild weekend at the New York Botanical Garden
The pumpkins are expected to weigh more than 1,800 pounds each, and we can't even fathom how many hundreds of pumpkin pies they will become. They'll be arranged the weekend of October 24th and 25th for pumpkin carvings from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Chosen in collaboration with the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth, the pumpkins in question were chosen by global weigh-offs and will be sculpted by Master Carver Ray Villafane from The Food Network.
Attendees will see him craft the pumpkins into haunted art before their eyes, as well as enjoy Q&A sessions with the carvers and snack on seasonal treats. Get your tickets here.
12. Village Halloween Parade (October 31st)

The quintessential NYC Halloween Parade will be frolicking in Greenwich Village for the 42nd time this year, on October 31st at 7 p.m.
Those in-costume only are invited to enter the line-up on 6th Avenue at Canal Street between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
The parade will include the cavorting of puppets, bands, dancers, artists, and thousands of happy, Halloween-crazed New Yorkers. This year's theme is "Shine a Light."
It's absolutely the wildest public participatory event on Earth.

13. Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (November 26th)

This unbeatable staple of Thanksgiving in NYC will be obviously be back in 2015, and raging even harder than ever. This year's famous parade will include 2.5 miles of public viewing, balloons, floats, performers, marching bands, performance groups, clowns, and more.
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has been NYC's kick-off to the holiday season for the last 89 years, and attracts more than 3.5 million in-person attendees and 50 million television spectators.
The spectacle will parade from 77th Street down to 34th Street along Central Park West and 6th Avenue, and ultimately concludes in front of Macy's at Herald Square.
It's the most iconic way to celebrate the arrival of Thanksgiving and its associated merriness, so get out there will you?
