So now we're coming at you with 11 free events and activities that are going down in New York City this fall. If it's free, it's for us.
And together, we'll have the best, least expensive fall of all time.

Weekend tours at Beersmiths in Astoria are absolutely free. At the end of the tour, you'll be presented with sample-size pours of the beer on tap. They offer free samples of any of their beer, any time.
Their weekend tours begin at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and all you need to do to sign up is be in the Tap Room five minutes beforehand.
They also sell as selection of pub-style food like meat pies, pretzels and bratwurst.
No, it isn't too good to be true, because it is extremely true. You probably won't be able to get wasted from their sample sized beers, but hopefully you can at least get buzzed?
2. Brooklyn Brewery Tours (79 North 11th Street - Brooklyn)

Brooklyn Brewery offers free tours every half-hour from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
To get into these free tours you definitely need to grab a ticket, and those are released just about an hour before each tour, so get there at least an hour before THAT.
You do have to pay for beers afterward via their well-crafted token system ($5 each or 5 for $20), but the fact that they'll bring you around the brewery gratis (as long as you have your ticket!), with priceless insights into their company lore and brewing basics free of charge, well, that's pretty excellent.
3. Picnics
Of course picnics are a quintessential NYC autumn activity, and there are plenty of NYC parks to picnic in.
Grab some apple cider, some whiskey, perhaps apple juice and vodka (or whatever your choice of beverage may be) and head down to Washington Square Park, Prospect Park, Randall's Island or ride the free ferry to Governor's Island.
NYC's parks are gorgeous, meticulously cared for, and absolutely free for celebrations of beautiful fall weather.
4. Halloween Harvest Festival (32-01 Vernon Boulevard, Queens - October 24th)
This year's Halloween Harvest Festival will take place on October 24th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m at Socrates Sculpture Park.
This festival bursts with Halloween joy, replete with art and costume making workshops, face painting, harvest food from local restaurants, live music, and a dog costume contest.
If you love everything to do with Halloween, this festival is likely the closest you'll ever get to experiencing the earthly version of heaven.
5. Brooklyn Botanic Garden (900 Washington Avenue - Brooklyn)
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is free on Tuesdays, and from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
This gorgeous natural museum is exploding with plants. They've got 10,000 taxa of plants across their 52-acres of gardens, to be precise.
The best part about this deal is that the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is one of the most excellent places for gazing at beautiful fall foliage that ebb to brilliant yellows, reds, and oranges in the later fall months.
6. The Bronx Zoo (2300 Southern Boulevard - the Bronx)

The Bronx Zoo is "pay-what-you-wish" on Wednesdays.
Which means that Wednesdays are the best days. What goes on at the 265-acres of the Bronx Zoo? Let's see. They've got camel rides, penguin feedings, a wild Asia monorail, a butterfly garden, a congo gorilla forest, and a bug carousel.
They've also got 6,000 animals from 650 species throughout the world. For instance, living at the Bronx zoo are elephants, anacondas, gorillas, and grizzly bears.
You could do worse for a free Wednesday activity.

7. MoMa (11 West 53rd Street)
Entry to the famed Museum of Modern Art is free between 4 and 8 p.m. on Fridays thanks to UNIQLO's sponsorship.
Your free UNIQLO admission ticket permits you to visit every single one of the MoMa's galleries, exhibitions and films.
Their current exhibitions include must-sees like Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup and Gilbert & George: The Early Years.
8. The New York Botanical Garden (2900 Southern Boulevard - the Bronx)

The New York Botanical Garden is free all day on Wednesdays, and from 9 p.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturdays.
If you feel like playing hooky, hitting it up after work, or rising with the birds on Saturday, get yourself to the Bronx for some quality rejuvenation courtesy of mother nature.
Especially since once it starts to ebb toward November, the leaves at the New York Botanical Garden will bloom into on-point yellows, oranges and reds, especially in their 250-acre Thain Forest. Some of the trees in the Thain Forest have been growing since the 19th Century.

9. New York Aquarium (602 Surf Avenue - Brooklyn)

The New York Aquarium is "pay what you wish" from 3 p.m. until close on Fridays.
It's located beside the ocean on the Coney Island Boardwalk, and it's a great way to befriend some of nature's friendliest aquatic pals. The New York Aquarium is home to 266 species of aquatic life, an aqua-theater, sea lions, walruses, sea otters, and penguins.
We'd be remiss if we didn't mention their sharks, rays, and turtles. Attendees to Glover's Reef get to experience a snorkeler's view of colorful marine life.

10. Wave Hill (West 249th Street and Independence Avenue - Bronx)
Wave Hill is free from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
It's a 28-acre public garden and cultural center, and aside from being completely gorgeous, it's also a hub for artistry and culture in the Bronx. It overlooks the Hudson River and Palisades, and is a perfect location for majestic autumn strolls.
They're dedicated to forging human connections with the natural world through programs in horticulture, education, and the arts.
We especially appreciate when they help us forge these connections for free.
11. Museum of Natural History (Central Park West and 79th Street)
Admission price is always "suggested" at the wondrous beauty that is the Museum of Natural History, but during its last hour of every day (4:45 - 5:45 p.m.) they don't even both suggesting any price.
As in, entrance is completely gratis on those days. This is great because the Museum of Natural History happens to be a mind-blowing compilation of internationally renowned exhibits. Plus, they've got a planetarium.
