For most New Yorkers, everyday is pizza day, but this weekend is special. Why, you might ask?

Because Saturday, September 5th is National Cheese Pizza Day, duh!

Just recently, Time reports that 40% of Americans eat pizza at least once a week, and that is no surprise to us New Yorkers who probably eat it more along the lines of twice or three times per week.

You know, because pizza.

Now, if you're on point with national pizza holidays, you'll recall National Pizza Day and National Pizza Party Day.

This is neither one of those. Here, we're talkin' straight-up cheese pizza, Kevin McCallister-style.

However, while the gluten-free, vegans, and the lactose intolerant may feel left out, there are a variety of non-wheat flour doughs and cheese alternatives out there facilitating their inclusion in perhaps the greatest national holiday around.

We recommend buffalo mozzarella for its texture and the fact that it's generally easier on the stomach, or vegan cheeses made of nuts (unless you're a nut allergic vegan, in which case, you're SOL...)

But if you're good with traditional NYC pizza, go give any neighborhood joint and get your love on this Saturday. It's the right thing to do, ya feels?
