According to a new study by Stratos Jet Charters, New York City ranks number two in the country in hostility towards tourists. That's not a typo. Number two.
This private air charter company recently collected Twitter data and utilized algorithms to develop their list, and you might not believe that Arlington, Texas is number one. Seriously though, Arlington... Texas?!?
Now, you may be wondering, "What do people go to Arlington for? Why would their residents be so resentful of visitors?" Well, there's plenty to do and see down there, if you didn't know.
Arlington's home to Six Flags Over Texas as well as a couple other water parks, the International Bowling Museum and Seven Seas Marine Life Park, an aquatic theme park.
It also home to the Texas Rangers' Globe Life Park and the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium. Maybe that's why they're so hostile?
The Dallas Cowboys are known to be one of the most polarizing football teams in the country; you generally either love them or hate them-- and football is a big deal in Texas. Could that account for all the hostility? Perhaps. Who the hell really knows.
If you search the hashtag "#arlingtontexas" on Instagram, much of what you get is custom "tactical gear" (stuff for guns), featuring a very 'Merican mashup of the Punisher logo and the Stars & Stripes.

There's also a variety of not-so-bad black and grey tattoos-- many of which featuring bald eagles and skulls. Now there's absolutely nothing wrong with guns, patriotism, or tattoos, but we're beginning to understand how and why they'd rank so high in the hostile-to-outsiders category.
But more importantly, it's possible (albeit not so plausible) that we're just a lot nicer than people give us credit for...
So the next time you hear someone complain about how rude New Yorkers are, you can respond with: "Well we're a helluva lot nicer than Arlington, Texas!"
And you'd be right for a bunch of reasons. Now check out the full download below. (P.S., if you were wondering, Chicago is the most friendliest city in the country. By a lot. We mean a lot.)
