Coming up in mid-October, the annual Open House New York is celebrating the 50th anniversary of New York City's landmarks law.
For one weekend (and one weekend only), they will open the doors to some of NYC's most amazing, exclusive architectural structures around. So what's the deal exactly? Listen up.
On October 17th and 18th, the group will be "unlocking the doors to places generally off-limits to the public for tours, talks, and special programs with architects, designers, engineers, urban planners, and educators."
And boy, they've got some really intriguing places to check out this year.
The roster includes the recently renovated City Hall, Google's NYC Headquarters, Grand Lodge of New York, and the Art Deco Central Library of the Brooklyn Public Library-- which will open its usually off-limits basement stacks to the public.
This is a great opportunity to absorb some of what makes this city great. We often hear about people busting into impressive venues to shoot some killer photo series, but this is a completely different vibe.
It's an all-access pass to some of our coolest buildings, both new and old.
So mark your calendar and be sure to check it out. (If for no other reason than you'll get the chance to ironically use Bing from within the Google's headquarters.)
