Unless you've been living in a technology-less society, you probably know MTV's Video Music Awards went down on Sunday evening. 

Much like any other time you get a bunch of crazy artists, celebrities and rabid fans together in one room, crazy sh*t happened. 

Let's see...Kanye West pretended to fall asleep, Taylor Swift won three awards, and lots of artists met up to rock the house with MTV's most popular songs. 

It was a night filled with fights and makeups, stellar performances, and one totally racially insensitive Black Lives Matter joke by Rebel Wilson.

So, pretty much, it was just business as usual. We've recapped the night below.

Notable winners

The Video of the Year Award went to Taylor Swift featuring Kendrick Lamar for "Bad Blood" (not many surprises there), Fall Out Boy won for Best Rock Video with "Uma Thurman" (they're still somehow making music), and Taylor Swift took it away again with Best Pop Video for "Blank Space".

Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars cleaned up the Best Male Video with "Uptown Funk" (what is Uptown Funk going to give us? We're still trying to figure out what it is), Nicki Minaj conquered the Best Hip Hop Video award with "Anaconda" (she got buns, hon).

Other honorable mentions include Fetty Wap getting the nod for Artist to Watch with "Trap Queen" (love cookin' pies in the kitchen), and Big Sean, Kanye, and John Legend winning Video with a Social Message for their work on "One Man Can Change the World".

Nicki Minaj championed women's independence

When Nicki Minaj won the award for Best Hip Hop Video, she took the stage with a staggering amount of confidence, asking, "Where are my girls that's getting their own money? Don't you be out here depending on those little snotty-nosed boys." 

She also said she hopes her fans follow their dreams all the time.

Of course, she also came at Miley Cyrus, saying, "And now, back to this b*tch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press, Miley what's good?"

Miley debunked the attack calmly, stating, "Hey, we're all in this industry. We all do interviews, and we all know how they manipulate sh*t. Nicki, congratulations."

Nicki Minaj also made up with Taylor Swift

The two artists had a Twitter feud during the weeks leading up to the VMA's. 

But they made it clear that beef was behind them when Nicki Minaj brought Taylor onstage for the performance of "The Night is Still Young," which segued into Taylor's "Bad Blood."

Miley Cyrus out Miley-ed herself

As expected, girl got weird with it. Don't ever change, Miley. 

Like, maybe a little bit, but not fundamentally. We couldn't handle it. 

Kanye West announced that he's running for president

When Kanye West received the esteemed Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award he brought the audience on a 12-minute epic journey...in a speech.

A small part of this speech was the announcement that he's running for president in 2020. Was he kidding or not? We're pretty sure he doesn't even know.

The best part is that Taylor Swift was the one who presented Kanye with this award.

She totally subverted Kanye's infamous interruption of her acceptance in 2009 by bringing him onto the stage with the introduction, "To all the winners, I'ma let you finish, but Kanye West has had one of the best careers of all time."

To that we say, get it Taylor.

Justin Bieber is not a robot

Apparently, Justin Bieber's comeback was successful, and he's officially back to his raw, emotional, charming and endearing self.

As you can see, his fans were more than pleased. We're still banking on him getting deported before he's 30. 

All in all, Miley was a better spectacle than she was a host, Rebel Wilson probably shouldn't tackle issues of race relations in America, Nicki is the boss, our girl T-Swift is far from finished, and Kanye, well, thanks to Trump, is a far cry from being the worst person we've ever considered for POTUS.
