The World Maker Faire is a pretty awesome thing. 

Think TED Talk meets World's Fair meets Comic-Con for inventors and inventions everywhere. Seriously, it's an all-ages affair including "tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors."

So what do all these "makers" come together to do? Show off what they've made, and help others make what they want to make. It's really as simple as that, but of course there's more. 

With past and present sponsors including Disney, Intel, and Google, there's no doubt that Maker Faires are kind of a big deal for makers of all kinds.

That being said, the 6th Annual World Maker Faire will blast off at the New York Hall of Science September 26th & 27th. 

They'll be hosting a slew of exhibits, lectures, performances, presentations, and a trade show of sorts featuring start up companies (meeting strict requirements) and sponsors. 

While it may sound super intellectual to some, it's meant to be fun. Performances, presentations, and exhibits are meant to be interactive and interesting to all ages while representing some form of advancement or imaginative design. 

Past exhibits have included giant metal fire breathing dragon sculptures on wheels. If that's any indication of what's to come, we're pumped.

Maker Faire is still accepting applicants for all categories, and just some of the topics they're looking for include robotics, 3-D printers, large scale art, electronics, sustainability & green tech, as well as "puppets, kites, and other whimsical creations."

Maybe you've always wanted to showcase your above ground submarine attached to a bicycle frame? Maybe you have a new way to regulate the pH of hydroponic fish farms? Maybe you're just interested in gadgetry? Whatever it is, just do it. You won't regret it.
