Remember that time we were devastated over the closing of FAO Schwarz's original location? 

Then, us New York City toy lovers had no reprieve from the assault of closings, as Toys "R" Us also did not renew its lease at 1514 Broadway. 

Our sadness was originally quelled by FAO Schwarz's negotiations to move into 1633 Broadway, but that deal fell through a week before it was signed.

But now, solace might be on its way for the two sister stores. 

According to Commercial Observer, FAO's original deal fell through because they are potentially planning to open an FAO Schwarz and Toys "R" Us combination store in Times Square.

If this mega, co-branded toy store were actualized, it would be pure toy bliss for all involved.

FAO Schwarz, who've already packed up and moved out of its 5th Avenue location, are in negotiations with the future owners of the Brill Building.

The 50,000 square feet of available retail space at the Brill Building (1619 Broadway at West 49th Street) cost $700-$800 in rent per square foot on the ground-floor, $150 per foot on the second and third floors, and $100 per foot in the basement.

The installation of this combo toy store at the space would lighten the heavy hearts of all NYC toy lovers of every age and creed. 

So yeah, we really hope this deal goes through. 

In the meantime, we hope you held onto all the toys you played with back in the 90s. Show those old toys some love until these two kings of toys are back in action. We will keep you updated as we learn more.
