This Thursday and Friday, a never-before-seen phenomenon is coming to Rockaway Brewing Company in Queens.

Recently Keizo Shimamoto, wizard of the Ramen Burger, and Robert Austin Cho, chef behind Korean barbecue Kimchi Smoke, crossed paths while vending at Smorgasburg Queens and have put their culinary masterminds together to create a divine union of their most popular menu items.

Dubbed the "Austin Ramen Cho," Shimamoto & Cho's wild $13 concoction is a spin on Kimchi Smoke' s "Austin Cho," a 12-hour smoked brisket sandwich-- but Ramen Burger-ified.

As part of a two-day pop-up at the Long Island City brewery, they're offering (inside a ramen bun, obviously) slow-smoked brisket with cheddar cheese, applewood-smoked bacon, hickory-smoked kimchi, and a bourbon chipotle sauce.

It's unclear at this point exactly what type(s) of wood Cho uses to smoke his brisket, but between the bacon and sauce alone, you'll have applewood and hickory smokes intermingling on your palate. (You had us at bacon, but whatever.)

This is exciting, to say the very least.

New York City is an extremely diverse burger environment, but there are some classics that dominate the market. Your usual "BBQ Bacon Burger" is exactly that-- usual. On the unusual side, the Asian-inspired burger market is on the upswing...

"It's like slightly silky and a little crispy on the outside," Cho says. "That adds a nice different texture to the burger."

This city is in need of more, quality, burgers with Asian flare, we say! It's in our genes as New Yorkers to blend, and meld, and mix, and match. That's exactly what this is, and why it's going to be fabulous.

So get there. Do it. It's going to be delicious.
