Because seeing that your MetroCard expires in September is a sobering moment, we've gotta get down this week.
We've got to make the most of this weather, get out and get wild, and make memories we'll hold on to for the rest of our lives (or at least, to make it through this winter).
Maybe this week you'll watch a movie by the river in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Maybe you'll sing karaoke on the Staten Island boardwalk. Just maybe, you'll dance the night away at Cielo.
Regardless, we've thought long and hard about what you can do in this crazy city this week. These are the best of the best, the cream of the crop that made the cut.

Monday - Thursday
1. Battery Dance Festival (August 15th - 20th - Robert F. Wagner Jr. Park)

It used to be the Downtown Dance Festival, and now it's the Battery Dance Festival. But one thing for sure is that it's always been awesome.
This variety of dance performances, from Indian Dance to performances by various NYC dance companies, international dance companies and the Polish Theater, are all free from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. from August 15th through the 20th.

Monday, August 17th
2. Root for the New York Yankees (Yankee Stadium - the Bronx)
America's favorite past time thrives on loud and proud at Yankee Stadium.
What better way is there to get your crew together, bond with your family, or impress your fly date than with tickets to the Yanks while they fight to hold onto the AL East lead against the Minnesota Twins?
It's August, guys. It's time for meaningful baseball, and the boys in pinstripes are looking to go yard all day. Well, at least you hope so. If not, at least there will definitely be cold beer.

Don't let hump day get you down. Instead, spend Wednesday screaming and dancing at Cielo.
Because, let's face it. Sometimes the stress of the week starts to pile up, and letting the beat flow through you and dancing like there's no tomorrow is a great way to cure the midweek ails.

This annual event begins at 10 p.m. and ends at 4 a.m. There will be an open vodka bar between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. And DJs Frankie Estevez, Cuba, and Massimo Perez will be bringing the house down.

And what we mean by that is, you haven't sat by the water in Brooklyn Bridge Park and watched the sun set yet this summer? Are you nuts?!

5. Visit the New York Aquarium (602 Surf Avenue - Coney Island, Brooklyn)
The New York Aquarium's got sea otters, sand tiger sharks, pacific walruses, seals, sea lions and more.
They've got an aqua-theater in which sea lions take the stage to interact with the audience. They've got a conservation hall, sea cliffs, and sharks, rays, and turtles.

And it's free on Fridays after 4 p.m. So if you were looking for an excuse to take that dope free ride on the Staten Island Ferry, you just found it. Little known fact: did you know there are beers for sale on the ferry?
6. Karaoke and fireworks on the Boardwalk (Coney Island, Brooklyn)

From 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. right in front of Deno's Wonder Wheel Amusement Park, karaoke will be raging for free.
After singing your heart out in front of dozens of your closest friends and favorite strangers, head to West 10th Street (in Coney Island Beach & Boardwalk) and watch free fireworks ignite the sky.
Because singing karaoke and watching colorful flames illuminate the sky is the best way to fight off the coming of fall, obviously.
Saturday, August 22nd
7. Party on a bus to the Billboard Hot 100 Festival at Jones Beach (Long Island)
On Saturday, beside a splendid ocean setting, the Cold War Kids, the Biebs, Skrillex, The Weekend, and other top notch performers will be jamming out at the Billboard Hot 100 Festival.
And you can transport yourself to this beachside reverie in style. By that we mean, partying with Tailbus and other party people, downing champagne, mimosas, white wine and rose, while the Billboard Top 100 Hits blast in preparation for the concert.

What you'll get with Tailbus: hassle free bus transportation from Union Square to Jones Beach, complimentary drinks, and the pregame of a lifetime. The bus leaves from Union Square at 1:45 p.m. and is scheduled to arrive at Jones Beach at 2:50 p.m.
The concert will rage on until 11 p.m. when the bus will re-board, for a 12:15 a.m. arrive in Union Square where you can continue to party on.

Sunday, August 23nd
8. Sunday Brunch Jazz Cruise (Pier 40 - 353 West Street)
Do you love brunch? Do you love jazz? What about stunning views of the George Washington Bridge and the Statue of Liberty? Those aren't too bad either, are they?
The Sunday Brunch Jazz Cruise is put on by Hornblower Cruises, and entails a two-hour journey aboard the luxury 210-foot yacht, which disembarks from Chelsea Piers at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The cruise also entails a complimentary cocktail, breakfast and lunch options from salmon to paella, and a 65-foot-tall skydeck. And of course live jazz. This is a fairly classy event, so you must wear "dressy casual attire."
