During the storied Victorian Age of New York City-- when cancer was thought to be a disease for "untidy" poor people and back when Grover Cleveland was in office-- The New York Cancer Hospital, at 455 Central Park West, opened its doors. 

To this day, it's the most distinctly castle-y looking structure in the immediate area.

Charles Coolidge Haight designed the fortresslike French Renaissance style hospital to facilitate the most progressive cancer treatment methods of the day. The patient wards were located in the five turret rooms, because it was believed that germs thrived in corners.

But after an odd history including a crematorium, the largest radium stockpile at the time, and the hospital moving across town to the Upper East Side, the property was an empty structure with landmark status housing addicts.

But more recently, after a bunch of setbacks and stalls in re-development, the "caste" has been rebuilt into luxury condos. 

And, according to Curbed NY, one of them is on sale for a cool eight million dollars.
