On August 1st at 3 p.m., Di*do Wars was scheduled in Union Square Park. It was supposed to support STD and HIV awareness, and creator Alex Xander "always wanted to have an epic battle in Union Square."
Mere days before the battle was scheduled to storm however, the city decreed that Xander had to cancel the event due to an excessive number of RSVPs-- over 5,000 to be precise.
"It is with deep regret that I inform you that our event has received too much recognition with over 5,000 people RSVP'd, and we've been instructed by the city to cancel the event as it can cause a public danger in such a small area as Union Square Park," Xander wrote on the event page.
Did this prevent the event from erupting? No. No, it did not.
Right after the commanded cancellation, Xander and his team created the page Di*doWarsIsOn.com, covertly switching the event to the next day.
The page stated, "If we cannot assemble and battle with thousands of dildos for the noble cause of raising STD awareness, then the work of all our Founding Fathers is in vain."
What would Thomas Jefferson say if he could bear witness to the battle that ensued?
We can only speculate, but we sincerely hope he'd be proud. Check out this battle footage from Elite Daily below.
