Well, that's a bummer.

According to a city poll conducted by Quinnipiac University that was released last week, New Yorkers reported they're unhappier than ever with the quality of life in New York City.

The New York Daily News reported that while 81% of New Yorkers feel safe in our own neighborhoods, we believe the quality of life in NYC is collapsing to a new low. Only 33% of Quinnipiac's voters reported they think the quality of life in NYC is "good," or "very good."

Quinnipiac has been conducting this poll since 1997, and that 33% satisfaction rate is the lowest number in the polls' history.

An earlier version of the survey released Wednesday revealed some other troubling statistics for de Blasio, whose disapproval rating rose to 44%.

"Public opinion polls are not what I'm focused on," de Blasio said in response to the survey. "I'm focused on that work."

And the work is getting done. Citywide crime is hovering around a historic low, although murders and shootings have increased since last year.

Still, de Blasio isn't quitting trying to make life in NYC better.

"The addition of 1,300 new police officers to the force, the expansion of community policing, and the success of 'Summer All Out' promise to deepen public safety and strengthen the relationship between police and community," de Blasio spokesman Wiley Norvell said. "New York City is the safest big city in America, and Mayor de Blasio and Commissioner Bratton are keeping it that way."

The survey reported that 52% of New Yorkers approve of Police Commissioner Bill Bratton's performance. 

And although 53% of New Yorkers reported they're seeing more homeless people in the streets, parks, and subways, the de Blasio administration says the number of homeless people has remained status quo. 

On the bright side, 73% of the New Yorkers questioned for the survey agree with the $15/hour minimum wage for fast food workers, which Governor Cuomo's Fast Food Wage Board voted to raise in July.

So, that's good news at least. But hey, let's try to turn those frowns upside down. We still live in the best city on the planet, remember?
