These places and events are necessities to completing your summer and finishing off with a bang (or a BAM, if you’d prefer).

For the third year in a row, on August 14 & 15th, Bed-Stuy is host to a wine and craft beer event that combines music and entertainment to turn itself into a tasting AND block party.

A laid-back festival atmosphere in which you get to get your drink on with award-winning booze? Every drinker likes the sound of that.
Many local vendors and even some select cuisines complete the excellent experience of Brooklyn’s best beers and wines.
2. Brooklyn Bridge Park
This park has everything; if you haven’t made it out there yet this summer, then you should be ashamed.
Zumba classes, a story-time hour, kayaking in the East River, music on a boat, sci-fi movies with a view, chess games, and even theatre (Shakespeare at sunset!) makes Brooklyn Bridge Park a complete necessity for the summertime.
The views are unbeatable, and there are events to keep you in shape, keep you entertained, and keep you good and cultured.

The eclectic and always exciting Brooklyn Museum is offering free guided tours of the museum highlights, Egyptian art, the architecture, and its myriad galleries throughout the summer.
Even though it’s closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, the museum has more than enough summer activities.
The Rise of Sneaker Culture exhibit is incredible, and there are even folk music performances and experimental film screenings, if you’re in the mood to enjoy some one of a kind entertainment.
4. Brighton Beach Jubilee Festival (Brightwater Avenue)
This beach festival has been around for thirty-nine years and counting-- and it’s still going strong. On August 30th, guests can go to a multi-block street festival that is right by the boardwalk and the water.
You can feel extra good about treating yourself to all of the food, drinks, and all sorts of summer knick-knacks you could want since the Jubilee is one giant fundraiser for the Brighton Beach neighborhood.

The kiddie rides and carnival snacks give the festival a nostalgic feel that will complete your requirement for some old-school summer throwbacks.
5. Crest True Value Hardware and Urban Garden Center (558 Metropolitan Avenue)

With frequent visits from Franklin the Pig and a live-in African parrot, this outdoors store will make you want to grow your garden (or add some flowerpots to the used mug collection on your desk).
They have plants, tools, grills, live ladybugs, tiki torches, everything that you could POSSIBLY desire to make the last month of summer super festive. Nature can be hard to come by in these parts, so enjoying the greenhouse here is a must while the weather is still nice.
Be it a few plants crammed onto your fire escape, an elaborate herb repository, or a beautiful backyard, this place will make you want to add some green to your life.
,6. Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket (Prospect Park West and Flatbush Avenue)
GrowNYC hosts a market full of fresh produce and artisanal items to keep your table overflowing with summery goodness.

Located in the northwest corner of Prospect Park, the Greenmarket hosts local farmers and even has cooking demonstrations with renowned chefs every Saturday.
The market plays the role of a sunny summer meeting place full of Brooklynites, their children, and their dogs, where great seasonal food can always be had for reasonable prices.
7. Brooklyn Botanic Garden (entrances on 150 Eastern Parkway, 455 Flatbush Avenue, and 990 Washington Avenue)
Take a break from the crowded blocks of the city and go see the unbelievably beautiful sights at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden-- there is a reason so many people want to get married here.
Whether you want a peaceful walk, a look at some wildlife, or a relaxing place to think, the gardens have more than enough of these things to go around.
The lily pool terrace, butterfly nature walk, and baby birds are just a few of the essentials in this massive greenhouse and garden. At its prime in the summertime, the Botanic Garden will make you feel like you’re on cloud nine instead of in one of the biggest metropolises in the world.
8. Smorgasburg (90 Kent Avenue - Pier 5)
Still trying to get your summer fix for quality food and booze vendors? Well fear not, because Smorgasburg is open every weekend until November.
One of the most popular sites for vendors and foodies, both Brooklyn locations have waterfront views and enough gastronomical wonders to keep you busy and satisfied for the rest of the summer.
Smorgasburg is a great place to go for an afternoon to enjoy the food and sights with friends, and maybe even get your day-drinking on.
9. Prospect Park
Obviously Prospect Park is on point in the summer. It is like its usual self, only ten-times better and hosting tons of events that range from bird watching excursions to disco dance parties every Friday night.

Best of all is the Celebrate Brooklyn benefit concert series, where indie rockers and musicians of all ilks perform outdoors for all Brooklynites to enjoy. You can get lost in the greenery, and hear some great music once you emerge from the woodsy paths with twigs in your hair. So worth it.
There are also exercise classes, nature exploration hikes, camping sites, and even a medicinal plants hike (hey, you never know) to give you all the outdoorsy summer thrills you could ask for before the cold weather comes back to rear its ugly head.
10. BAM's indie 80s film series (30 LaFayette Avenue)
Brooklyn Academy of Music is showcasing a series of over sixty independent films from the forgotten era of the eighties.
Cool down indoors and relax for an evening of edgy filmmaking created to combat the cultural norms of the Reagan years, running until August 27th. Blue Velvet, The Evil Dead, This Is Spinal Tap, and Alphabet City are just a few noteworthy titles to be enjoyed.
Between the fashion, the famous figures, and the drama, something is bound to excite you on BAM’s screen, and give you a well-needed dose of summer counter-culture.
