Hey New York City. What are you up to this week? Oh, you don't know yet? 

Well, don't fret if your calendar for this upcoming week is blank as of right now. Because we've cooked up some dope suggestions for you to tackle this week.

As in, you could jam out at club Deep Space to the beats of an incredible DJ. 

Or, you could relax beside the Hudson and watch a movie in Brooklyn Bridge Park. You could even munch on amazing food at the Food Truck Rally in Grand Army Plaza.

Really, the options are, well, not endless, but numerous and awesome. Read on to find out what they are.


Monday, August 10th

1. Deep Space (Cielo - 18 Little West 12th Street)

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden offers free admittance on Tuesdays (and Saturdays) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. So, call in late to work, schedule your day off for Tuesday, or jet here on your lunch break.

Why should you visit the Brooklyn Botanic Garden?

Well, so you can get revitalized by nature, of course. 

It's a 52-acre garden, that contains over 10,000 taxa of plants. They've got a Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden, and Herb Garden, and a Native Flora Garden. They have a comprehensive list of flowers in bloom, and the variety and splendor of these flowers are stunning.

Don't you deserve to propel yourself through the week by marveling at the magnificence of nature?


Wednesday, August 12th

3. Celebrate Brooklyn: Willie Nelson & Family and Old Crow Medicine Show (Prospect Park Bandshell)

This free concert series has been blowing up the Prospect Bandshell every summer since 1979. It's put on by BRIC, and it's one of the city's foremost summer attractions.

Willie Nelson's been rocking out for six decades, during which time he's made more than 200 albums. He's an actor and activist, and he's going to rock your world on Wednesday.

Old Crow Medicine show began busking on corners in NYC 15 years ago, and now they're here, ready to show love to Brooklyn in the bandshell. They won a Grammy for their 2014 album Remedy, and now they're going to win the award for best free Wednesday night concert in history.

The gates for this event open at 6 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7 p.m.


Thursday, August 13th

4. SyFy Movies With a View: Dr. Strangelove (Brooklyn Bridge Park)

Love free summer activities in NYC?

Then SyFy Movies With a View should be the perfect way to spend your Thursday evening. Why, you wonder?

If you haven't lately visited Brooklyn Bridge Park, you really should. The rush that surges through your stomach when you glimpse downtown Manhattan glistening across the Hudson River is well worth any subway trip you have to take to get to the park.

Plus, there are soccer fields alight with overhead lights and some (usually) pretty excellent soccer players. And there's phenomenal ice cream from Ample Hills Creamery.

Plus, Dr. Strangelove will be playing on a huge screen beside the river at sunset. The movie will be proceeded by DJ jams from DJ $mall Β’hange and the short film Yearbook. You really can't top this event.

Friday, August 14th

5. Soulection Yacht Party (Pier 40)

S.O.B.'s, otherwise known as Sounds of Brazil, is a dope live music venue dedicated to spreading the artistry of the Afro-Latina Diaspora.

Sunday, August 16th

The Prospect Park Alliance and Dispatch NY are really hitting us up with some dope cuisine this weekend. Get ready to sample cuisines from all around the world served from the side of New York's best food trucks.

Because where else in American can you chow down on Italian calzones, Chinese pork buns and Mexican burritos in the same fell swoop, and have them all drenched in culinary excellence?
