Back in June, we hit you up with free stuff to do this summer in New York City.
Because NYC is absolutely amazing, we didn't cover it all. How could we have? Our city is huge, and bustling over the brim with awesome free activities.
So we're hitting you up with a free summer activities guide numero dos.
We want you to squeeze all the flavor out of this summer. And we don't want you to overextend yourself to do it, since everyone knows living here breaks the bank.
We're here to put an end to all your overdrawn fees and money-related stress.
Read on to make the most of the rest of the summer, and do it absolutely fo' free.
Kayaking and Canoeing
1. The North Brooklyn Boat Club (437 McGuinness Boulevard - Brooklyn)
Thanks to the kind folks at the North Brooklyn Boat Club, everyone in NYC has free access to boating in NYC's rivers.
At the North Brooklyn Boat Club, you can take part in public paddles or educational canoe trips.

The educational canoe trips last for two hours on land and creek, and you'll learn how to boat. These require no payment, but you do have to sign up in advance on the North Brooklyn Boat Club's site.
The North Brooklyn Boat Club's remaining public paddles in which participants join a trained guide on a short trip out on the water are on August 29th and September 26th, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. You do not need to sign up in advance for these free public paddles.
2. The Downtown Boathouse (Pier 26, Pier 96, and 72nd Street)

The Downtown Boathouse offers free 20-minute kayaking on weekend days at all three locations. On evenings in August free kayaking is also held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Pier 26, and from Monday through Wednesday at Pier 96 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Downtown Boathouse also offers free kayaking classes at Pier 96. Their "Forward Stroke," class will be held on August 8th, their "Kayak Turns," class will be held August 15th, and their "Kayak Rescues" class will be held August 22nd.
Outdoor movies
3. Coney Island Flicks on the Beach
Seeing a movie outdoors for free while the sun sets beside an NYC body of water is a summertime in the city essential.
And you're not too late to make this happen this summer.
Coney Island Flicks on the Beach, the iconic summer movie series that involves sitting on the beach and staring at a 40-foot inflatable movie screen in the water, still has three more movie dates.
Mrs. Doubtfire will air on August 10th, Guardians of the Galaxy will play on August 17th, and August 24th's movie is still to be determined.
4. SyFy Movies With a View (Brooklyn Bridge Park)

SyFy Movies With a View, the outdoor movie series involving a dazzling sunset beside the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline, still has summer showtimes.
Friday will play on August 6th, Dr. Strangelove on August 13th, Dazed and Confused on August 20th, and Die Hard on August 27th.
Bring a blanket, some movie snacks, and your friends. The movies begin at sundown, and are preceded by various short films and DJs.
5. SummerScreen (North 12th Street and Bedford Avenue - Williamsburg)

And finally, SummerScreen, Brooklyn's free film and concert series, stages live music and offerings from food and alcohol from stellar vendors until sunset, when the films begin.
They'll play Jurassic Park on August 5th and a TBD audience pick on August 12th.
Munch on delicious empanadas and sip on craft beer while the sun throws its setting light on the river and across the skyline.
Concerts
6. Broadway in Bryant Park

Thursdays at lunchtime in Bryant Park, the most popular shows on and off Broadway perform their biggest hits outdoors. It's a lovely time.
The event spans from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., and we recommend arriving early if you want to be near the stage. We also recommend packing a delicious picnic.
Amazing Grace, Something Rotten!, Ruthless!, Allegiance, and A Gentlemen's Guide to Love and Murder will be staged on Thursday, August 6th.
Mrs. Smith's Broadway Cat-Tacular!, Once Upon a Mattress, The King and I, Dames at Sea, and Spring Awakening will be staged on August 13th.
7. Central Park SummerStage
We know SummerStage was on the original summer guide. But since this amazing, free concert series spans until September, it needs another mention.
It's NYC's largest free performing arts festival, and many of its amazing acts have yet to stage.

Sarah Jones, the Nuyorican Poets Cafe grand slam champion will slam on August 7th. The Glass Animals will hit the stage at Rumsey Playfield on August 9th. Lake Street Dive will play on September 2nd.

Celebrate Brooklyn has one more show left for this summer.
It's a benefit concert, and it'll feature Willie Nelson & Family and Old Crow Medicine Show at Prospect Park Bandshell on August 12th. It starts at 7 p.m., and the doors will open at 6 p.m.
It's going to be a rocking show, and it's going to be free. Don't miss your shot to jam.
,Parades
9. Dominican Day Parade (6th Avenue from 38th Street to 54th Street)
The Dominican Day Parade strives to provide an understanding of the heritage and contributions of the Dominican community in American and the world.
This is coupled with a celebration that will rock 6th Avenue on August 9th from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The goal is to earn money to distribute scholarships to aspiring, under-privileged students in the Dominican community.
It'll be a dope, socially conscious celebration. Come out.
10. Summer Streets
We're sure you've heard about Summer Streets, but we're going to tell you all about it anyway. On August 8th and 15th, a section of Park Avenue will close to cars.
This will allow a celebration of the streets to commence, with bikes, roller blades, a 165-foot zip line, and a 270-foot water slide.
It's the best thing that's happened to Park Avenue since traffic lights. Come witness this amazing debacle of happiness while you still have the chance.
11. Beaches

Don't listen to what anyone says. It is not too late to get to the beach this summer in NYC.
From Coney Island, Rockaway Beach, to Jacob Riis Park, you do not have to pay to spread out a towel and lounge beside the ocean.
Take a Rockaway Bound A train to Far Rockaway to visit Rockaway Beach.
Take a Brooklyn-bound 2 train and disembark at Flatbush Avenue, and hop on the Q35 to get to Riis Beach, take a Coney Island-bound D, Q, N, or F train to the end of the line and get off at Coney Island to visit Coney Island.

12. Public pools
To visit an NYC public pool, you need to bring a combination lock and a bathing suit. You need to forget your electronics and newspapers.
The Astoria Park Pool is gorgeous and beside the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge. The Barretto Point Park is atop a boat. The John Jay Pool is an Upper East Side gem.
NYC's public pools are open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (with a pool cleaning break between 3 and 4 p.m.) until Labor Day. Make it happen. Find out more information here.

13. Hip to Hip Theatre: The Merchant of Venice

In its ninth season, Hip to Hip Theatre will present Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice and The Merry Wives of Windsor from July 22nd through August 16th.
This free theatre under the stars is hitting stages in Queens, the Bronx, Jersey City and Southampton. They're staging two funny, dark plays across 12 parks, like Gantry Plaza, Sunnyside Gardens Park, and Socrates Sculpture Park.

14. Books Beneath the Bridge
Books Beneath the Bridge featured six reading events curated by local independent bookstores in Brooklyn.

There is one event left in this series, and it's happening on August 10th at 7 p.m. in Brooklyn Bridge Park. It's curated by Bookcourt and will feature a reading from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bassist Dennis Dunaway and music from Blue Coupe (Dunaway, Joe Bouchard, and Albert Bouchard).
Also, it's free.
15. Word for Word at Bryant Park

Word for Word in the Bryant Park Reading Room is a free series of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction readings held under a tend at the Reading Room.
What's more lovely than hearing famous poets like Anne Carson read outside in the summer? Probably nothing, except that this event also offers free writing workshops that don't require payment, just advanced registration.
