Birthdays. Engagements. Going away. Coming home. Engagement parties. These events should all be celebrated-- and how else, but with a crispy slab of steak, right? Right.
So, did you get a raise? Did you propose? Did your cousin just decide to move to New York City?
All of the above scenarios are worthy of a nice celebration, and a hearty, meat-filled dinner at a NYC steakhouse.
But not just any New York City steakhouse. We're talking about the cream of the crop. The most delicious ones. The most tender. The most mouth-watering. And that's where we come in.
So all you carnivores, listen up. We've gone ahead and picked out the best steakhouses in NYC (in no particular order, that is).
Now go ahead 'n treat yo self.
Peter Luger Steakhouse (178 Broadway - Brooklyn)
blissful027 거의 두달전에 예약한 #peterluger #steak #뉴욕 #피터루거 #스테이크 #brooklyn #nyc #newyork #먹스타그램 #foodporn #foodie #photooftheday #daily
This famous dinner establishment was opened as a café, billiards and bowling alley in 1887-- by none other than Peter Luger. Sol Forman bought the restaurant after Luger's death in 1950, and the Forman family has been perfecting their steak recipe ever since.
Peter Luger is undoubtedly one of the top steakhouses in NYC and one of the finest in the U.S., ensured by their meticulous cooking and selecting methods. Their steaks are crafted using only USDA prime beef, which is often less than 2% graded beef cattle.
Prior to serving, their steak is kept in carefully regulated conditions, aged, butchered, trimmed, and brought to the kitchen for broiling.
This steakhouse is certainly pricey, but worth it, as Peter Luger's bring customer service to a whole new level. One caveat: they only take cash, so hit up the ATM before you dine.
As for sides? Well, we'd definitely suggest going for the creamed spinach and the German potatoes. Peter Luger also has a location in Great Neck on Long Island, if you ever find yourself out that way and hungry.
Keens Steakhouse (72 West 36th Street)
mynameisjennielee "Welcome to NY Daniel" dinner lol #KeenSteakhouse #porterhouse #for #dinner #nyc #delicious #먹스타그램 #스테이크 #냠냠
Before 1885, Keens was part of the Lambs Club, a famous theater and literary group founded in London. In 1885, Keens Chophouse opened independently under Albert Keen's ownership. Then, in 1905, actress Lillie Langtry sued Keens for denying her access to the men-only premises, and won.
She famously swept into Keens in a feathered boa right after winning her trial and ordered their famous mutton chops.
Today, Keens is the sole survivor of the Herald Square Theater District. And they still serve their magnificent, gigantic mutton chops.
If you go to Keens and chow down on mutton chops, they'll probably be one of the best pieces of meat you'll ever consume. Their New York Sirloin and Prime Rib also deserve a tip of our hats.
The decor in Keens is fabulous, as smoking pipes cover the ceiling to commemorate the Pipe Club, whose members included Teddy Roosevelt and Babe Ruth.
Sparks (210 East 46th Street)

Their crunchy potatoes are extremely delectable, and Sparks serves one of the best editions of prime sirloin in the entire city. They also have a specialty side of delicious sautéed onions.
This is a sometimes loud and rowdy steakhouse, and an excellent spot for your upcoming celebration. But just book it. You won't regret it.
Wolfgang's Steakhouse (various NYC locations)
Chef Wolfgang Swiener spent decades as the head waiter at Peter Luger's. He then duplicated Peter Luger's by founding Wolfgang's with his own extraordinary touch.
Wolfgang's steak definitely makes the cut, serving massive porterhouses that are perfectly charred, tender, and delicious. They're served on an angled plate which accumulates juices, butter, and fat in which you can drench your steak to make it taste extra fantastic.
With locations in Times Square, Midtown East, TriBeca, and Park Avenue, there are plenty of opportunities for you to fill your stomach with this phenomenal class of NYC steak.
Strip House (13 East 12th Street)
Hungry? Excellent. Strip House is perfect for you.
Famous for their massive strip steaks with a pile of potatoes cooked in duck fat on the side, and their intimate, romantic decor, Strip House is your go-to spot for your next celebratory occasion.
The single cut strip steak at Strip House is more than enough to satiate any hungry diner. Their filet is tender, and cooked with a gently salted crust on top, which will send an explosion of flavor rattling through your brain.
Also, their 24 layer cake is among the finest specimens of chocolate cake in the entire city.
