As the remaining weeks of summer grievously dwindle, we're fighting a battle against time. We're striving for the best summer ever.
So, we came here to tell you that the best summer ever is still possible. It's going to be a wild August in New York City, and we're going to tell you why.
Read on and just do the following events. We're pretty sure if you stick with us, you'll have the best August you've ever had. And that's all you can really ask for, right?
1. Chardonnay Run (August 1st - Pier 26)

Start August off right with some wine, food, and exercise.
Race and taste at the national 5K wine racing series, with a healthy does of exercise, followed by a healthy does of wine and cheese.
This event also includes live music, delicious food vendors and trucks, and some serious post-race relaxing.
You'll be high on endorphins, buzzed from wine, and chilling beside the Hudson River. What could be better?

2. Summer Streets (August 1st, 8th, and 15th - Park Avenue from Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park)
Yup, they're closing down Park Avenue streets in celebration of NYC's streets on three Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. throughout August.
How can you join in on the celebrations?
You can, you know, water slide down Park Avenue. That's an option. There will also be a 165-foot zip line in addition to another 270-foot zip line, so you can also very casually zip line down Park Avenue.

Or, you could grab a bike, rollerblades, scooter, or your running shoes.
There will also be a dog park at Astor Place and a "Soccer Zone" at Foley Square. Basically, it'll be downright dope. Check the comprehensive list of activities here.
3. Coney Island Reggae on the Boardwalk (August 2nd - Boardwalk at 21st Street)
This Coney Island Reggae Beach Party is a must-do end-of-summer event. If you love reggae, the beach, food, and/or alcohol, this is the perfect opportunity to Sunday Funday, and kick August off right.
The bass and rhymes will be bumping through the night on a huge stack of speakers, an all-star selection of vocalists, and hundreds of other summertime revelers will be dancing all night long.
You can enjoy the party on full blast on the boardwalk, or just enjoy a warm dusk on the beach. The party that rages around reggae is as important as the music itself. Don't miss it.
4. Coney Island Flicks on the Beach: Mrs. Doubtfire (August 10th - 1001 Boardwalk West - Brooklyn)
Seeing a movie outside should be on every New Yorker's summer bucket list, right?
And what better movie series is there to make this happen than Flicks on the Beach in Coney Island? This free beachside movie series features a giant 40-foot inflatable screen nestled right beside the famous Deno's Wonder Wheel.
On August 10th, American classic Mrs. Doubtfire will hit Coney Island's floating screen, and it'll be epic. Bring a towel, some wine, and some pals. Go see it. Don't let Mondays win.
5. Soulection Yacht Party (August 14th - Pier 40 Westside Highway)
Sounds of Brazil, also known as S.O.B.'s, is a live music venue opened with the purpose of exposing the musical wealth of the Afro-Latina Diaspora. Their concert cruises are composed solely of musical legends, and the Soulection Yacht Party will be no exception.
It will feature the musical prowess of Sango, ESTA, Joe Kay, The Whooligan, Andrew Power, and Eden Hagos. It'll take place aboard the Luxury Infinity Yacht, and will be a rocking night of amazing music, alcohol, and the rush of the open sea.

Doors open at 10 p.m. and the yacht will set sail at 11 p.m. This will be an exhilarating, life-changing event, and the perfect way to celebrate the middle of August.

6. Tap Cork Brooklyn Beer and Wine Festival (August 14th & 15th - Fulton and Marcy Avenue)
The third annual Tap+Cork Beer and Wine Festival combines the sophistication of fancy tastings with the celebratory ambiance of summer neighborhood block parties.
This event will feature award-winning selections of craft beers, regional wineries, delicious food vendors, and live music.
Why wouldn't you want to spend your weekend sampling delicious alcohol from famous breweries and wineries, jamming out to good music, and palling around Restoration Plaza with your friends?

This is one of the largest multi-arts events in the U.S., and takes place over the course of two weeks on more than 20 stages in NYC every August.

FringeNYC uses a jury-based selection process to choose which of their 200 shows will make their stages. This year's festival includes comedy, dance, improv, stand-up, and clown performances, multimedia shows, musical opera, drama, magic, and performance art.

The Jazz Age Lawn Party is a Prohibition Era-inspired gathering held every summer in NYC over two weekends. This event is your magical chance to time travel back to one of America's most formative and romanticized eras.

Formerly known as the Downtown Dance Festival, the Battery Dance Festival offers a plethora of dance performances-- and they're all free to the public. And they're all artistically excellent and socially relevant.
Battery Dance Company seeks to connect the world through dance, striving to present dance in public spaces with special attention to the disadvantaged and areas of conflict. And this year, you can be a part of it.

Do you love laughing? If you have a soul, you probably answered yes.
So for all of you New Yorkers out there who love laughing, you need to get yourselves to the Brooklyn Comedy Festival, created to celebrate the NYC comedy scene.
This festival showcases both established and up-and-coming performers from different comedy genres, including sketch, standup, and improv.
In addition to shows, the Brooklyn Comedy Festival also holds after-parties throughout Brooklyn hosted by local and national sponsors. Plenty of the performances are free to enter, and the ones that have ticket prices are so relaxed, they'll make you laugh as hard as these shows will.
Okay, bad joke. We promise the Brooklyn Comedy Festival is funnier than that.

11. Central Park Film Festival (August 25th-29th)
Watching movies outdoors for free is dope. The Central Park Film Festival is no exception.
Every year, the Central Park Conservancy hosts a free week of evening film screenings. This year's films will take place every night from August 25th through August 29th, rain or shine.

From Fame and Superman II to The Blues Brothers, all of this year's films are 1980s throwbacks. Check the full schedule here.
Feel free to bring a picnic and blanket. But don't bring glass bottles . The gates open at 6:30 p.m. and all movies begin at 8 p.m.
12. Taste of Tennis New York (August 27th - 541 Lexington Avenue)

This event will build the hype for the oncoming U.S. Open.
As you get stoked for this event, you might as well rub elbows with the world's best tennis players, right?

Brought to you by The Culture LP (and sponsored by spoiled nyc), #StillMiseducated is an art exhibit inspired by the music of Lauryn Hill. Imani Shanklin Roberts' paintings visually examine the breadth and depth of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, a socially relevant 90s album currently standing the test of time. You do not want to miss these paintings' unveiling.
#StillMiseducated will be a night of nostalgic tunes, good company, and the reveal of Imani SR's newest body of artwork. Guests will groove to the tunes of DJ Anna Collecta, rock out to a live performance by Saba Jenga, and have a chance to win gifts from House of Marley.
There will also be a special silent auction to benefit the work of The Future Project. It's all going down at Studio 301 in Brooklyn at 2 p.m.
