You can do all these things and more, and maybe even just catch a deep breath from the crazy, hectic city on these 6 amazing day trips.
So here they are, in all of their glory. Make sure you take advantage of 'em, because before you know it, autumn will end without us taking full advantage of it, and winter will keep us inside seemingly forever. Just. Like. That.
1. Montauk Village & Golf (Long Island)
There is natural beauty radiating at the tip of Long Island. At Montauk Village you’ll find unique shops, restaurants, parks, trails, beaches, golf and fishing. The relaxed atmosphere here will provide you a much needed, deep inhale from city frenzy.

f you love golfing, ride the LIRR to Montauk Downs Golf Course, a legendary championship course with an enthralling ocean view. The park also has a swimming pool and tennis courts, so you can make an entire gorgeous outdoor day out of this trip.
2. Bike rental in Beacon (New York)
Love biking? Hate trying to maneuver a bike through the carnivorous NYC streets?
Seven days a week, from noon to 7 p.m., rent a bike in a great little Hudson Valley city. The trail is appropriately named Riverfront Trail and winds through Madame Brett Park into downtown Beacon.
Your bike rental includes a two hour bike rental and a helmet, and you must be at least 16 to rent. Before you return to the bike rental location, visit the Farmer’s Market and grab some fresh fruits and vegetables.
Return to the city refreshed and rejuvenated and ready to take on the crowds.
3. Visit the Nautical Mile (Long Island)

Freeport’s Nautical Mile is bursting with a festive atmosphere. It's got dope seaside restaurants, outdoor clubs and bars, party and fishing boats, mini golf, ice cream, and more activities for you to enjoy amidst the nautical atmosphere.
It’s got a 4-acre waterfront park, a boardwalk, and marina. It’s classier than , and has a bustling nightlife.

There are kayak rentals, you can board the Freeport Water Taxi, or a boat ride with Party Boat Central Freeport Boatmens Association to spend some time on a ship cruising with party vibes.
And parking here is a pain in the butt, so take the train.

But, of course, it’s normal to more than yearn for the sort of nature fix you just can’t get in the confines of the city. To ward off the ending of fall, enjoy a fall immersion into nature at Northern Dutchess.
If you attend this day trip, the Dutchess County Farm Fresh Link shuttle will meet you at the Poughkeepsie Train Station and drive you north to the historic Montgomery Place Orchards and Mead Orchards. You’ll get to shop and lunch in Rhinebeck, a beautiful historic village, with charming boutiques.

5. Kayak on the Hudson River and hike Mount Beacon (New York)
It’s amazing that the Downtown Boathouse offers free kayaking on the weekends.
But what if you want your kayak experience to be much more vigorous than a tiny buoyed-in area and last longer than 15 minutes?
Then you absolutely must ride the Metro-North and visit Mountain Top Outfitters Kayaking Company, which offers kayak rentals from the Boathouse on the Hudson’s stunning Long Dock Park, only a handful of steps from Beacon Station.
Your package includes a 2-hour kayak rental for the price of one hour, and all the gear you need to start paddling out on the water. Reservations are required, and are available 7 days a week (weather permitting).
Once you’re done boating, grab some lunch or have the world’s most athletic day and hike Mount Beacon. When you’ve reached the peak, marvel at a 360 degree view of the Hudson Valley.
6. Montauk Lighthouse (Long Island)

This is the ultimate seaside resort community, and it’s settled in at the tip of Long Island in Montauk. This day trip is a guided tour of three areas: Montauk Village, the Lighthouse, and Gosman’s Dock.
