Remember that black cat who was saved from the New York City subway tracks last week? Well, you're really not going to believe this one. 

In case you missed it, police in the 34th Precinct sent out a tweet (see below) last Thursday afternoon after they found this 3-foot-long alligator strolling along 9th Avenue at West 205th Street.

The NYPD did manage to corner the animal until emergency services units arrived. The gator was then taken to NYC Animal Care Centers, where it unfortunately passed away on Friday.

Seriously, what is going on in this city, and more importantly, what's next?

Who really knows, but here's to hoping we can get all of these loose animals under control as New Yorkers enter the... well, dog days of summer.
