Whether you realize it or not, a building manager has got to be one of the best jobs in New York City.
Everyone in this city is always complaining about rent. But if you become a building manager, it's simple: no rent for you!
SHoP's 57th Street Tower, which will ultimately measure 1,428 feet tall and change the scope of this city's skyline, will also employ resident managers who will live rent-free in multi-million dollar apartments while pulling in six-figure salaries.
According to DNAInfo, the resident manager at Vornado's 220 Central Park South will get a 1340-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bath apartment that costs $5,264,503 and a yearly salary of $261,538, and union benefits.
And the resident manager at the MOMA Tower, 53W53? They'll live in a Jean Nouvel-designed building right besides the famous museum, in a three-bedroom, 2.5-bath, 1,852-square-foot apartment that costs $5.1 million.
They'll also earn $225,000/year and union benefits. (P.S., that resident manager job is not yet filled.)
So, you're probably wondering two things. One, what are the responsibilities of a resident manager? And two, how can you apply for the job?
Rachel Cohen of SEIU 32BJ, the union that represents residential managers, says the management companies will post the jobs and make all hiring decisions.
As for responsibilities? One57 lists their resident manager responsibilities as "supervision of day-today building operation and building staff liason with residents for all homeowner-related concerns."
So, yeah, getting woken up in the middle of the night because someone forgot their keys would absolutely suck. But getting to live in a $5 million apartment while earning six figures just might make it worth it.
