NYC is a notorious mecca for foodies. And being a foodie usually means Instagramming about it.
From @GrubShotsNYC, to @danielkrieger, to @foodbabyny, we're not afraid to say our food 'grammers are off the chain.
Now, this incredible website Photoworld released the information we've all been waiting for. The most commonly 'grammed foods in New York City.
And it wasn't what we were expecting.
Photoworld obtains their data by looking at which cities have the most hashtags for each food item. Did you know 13% of all the hashtags for #empanadas come from NYC?
Come on, be serious. Did you think empanadas would be the most IG'd food in this city? Because we didn't.
The other top NYC Instagram posts were #jerkchicken, with 8.5% of these hashtags emerging from NYC, and #xiolongboa, with 9.2% of Instagram's #xiaolongbao posts.
We originally thought our most Insta-famous food might be pizza, but it's not. Only 6.1% of Instagram's pizza hashtags come from NYC. At least we just about doubled LA, who only comprise 3.2% of Instagram's #pizza hashtags.
We also 'gram about pizza more than Naples, Rome, Milan, and Bologna put together so, we at least have that going for us.
In some unsurprising news, we Instagram about bacon at a rate of 8% of Instagram's #bacon hashtags. Which really didn't shock us at all.
