Well, it's official!
Bill Murray, who played Dr. Peter Venkman in "Ghostbusters" (1984) and "Ghostbusters II" (1989), will appear in director Paul Feig's upcoming 2016 installment of the franchise, which is currently being filmed in Boston.
Although it's not confirmed whether Murray will appear as his original role from the 1980s New York City-based films or if it will be a new cameo, one thing is certain...
Old-school Ghostbusters fans have welcomed the news of a familiar face with open arms.

They're shooting the new Ghostbusters film in Boston-- which is fine, even though the rivalry between New York City and Beantown runs deep. Like really deep. Deep, like back to the baseball days of Babe Ruth playing on the Boston Red Sox, that kinda deep.
So if they're going to transport stars Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig up north to shoot this NYC-based flick, can director Paul Feig at least get his production team and set designers to accurately reflect the correct streets for the N/Q/R line?
We mean, don't get us wrong.
They nailed the color of the subway station down to perfection, the street lamps look authentic, and the actual subway lines are accurate as well.
But 50th Street for the N/Q/R? Any self-respecting New Yorker knows there's no yellow line at 50th Street. 49th Street and 7th Avenue, yes.
(Hell, there are other subway lines that stop on 50th-- a ton of them, actually-- but the N/Q/R lines don't.)
So, yeah... we guess we'll have to keep our eyes peeled for any other NYC-centric set blunders while they're filming up in Boston. (Which will definitely keep us busy while we anxiously await the film's release, scheduled for July 2016.)
