The ride share wars have officially heated up again. On the heels of last week's Uber announcement of $10 UberPools below 96th Street, Lyft has countered with some ride-sharing news of their own... 

For a limited time only, pay just $5 for Lyft Line rides requested and taken south of 97th Street in Manhattan.

Best part of it all? Even if you don’t match with another passenger, your trip is set at $5 when you’re riding solo. 

Well-played, Lyft, well-played. Your move, Uber.

Uber is great. It requires a couple taps on your phone, and a friendly (sometimes over-talkative, sometimes not) driver rolls up to bring you exactly where you need to go.

The only draw back is, you know, the price.

But starting today, a ride with UberPool anywhere below 96th Street, from Seaport to Central Park, is only $10 max-- whether you're matched with another rider or not.

This is great for a lot of reasons. One, it'll help reduce traffic in the city. Two, it'll help save the environment, because of that whole carbon footprint thing. And three, $10 is a very chill price to go from 96th Street to Seaport.

A cab ride that far would likely climb into the $30s.

This is a limited-time offer, so get on it. And yeah, you might wind up being matched with another rider. And we can't guarantee that other rider won't suck. But hey, maybe you'll end up falling in love!
