So you're looking to tear it up on the dance floor this fall, remember this: you're in the best city in the world for it.

1. Le Bain at the Standard Hotel (444 West 13th Street)
Once you pick your way through long lines and actually get yourself inside the doors atop The Standard, you'll get down to a variety of music.
There's a small pool beside the dance floor and trust us when we tell you, some wild partiers will definitely get their swim on during these cool fall nights.
But the best part of this club has got to be the catch-your-breath views of both a lit-up Manhattan skyline, and the Hudson River banging up against the shore below you.
Beware, though, if you show up with a large group on a Saturday night even slightly inebriated, you'll probably get sent home.
(Hell, there's a good chance you'll get sent home even if you're not drunk, but for these views, that's a chance worth taking.)

Do you want to spend the entire night bumping up and down, riding the waves of a dancing crowd, and going absolutely wild?
If you're not looking for an insane night of dancing hard, and then spilling outside just as you're drenched in sweat with the sun beginning to rise, Lavo definitely isn't for you.
These DJs spin a mix of hip-hop, pop, and EDM, and its vibe is absolute hysteria at its finest.
From girls dancing on tables to tourists spilling shots on each other's heads, every weekend here is a dance party. But beware: it's expensive.
3. 1 Oak (453 West 17th Street)
If you want a wild time, you need to get to 1 Oak. Like ASAP. Every weekend, the drama is hyped, the dancefloor is bumping, and a steady stream of alcohol is flowing.
While this club is exclusive and requires a semi-strict dress code, it is always exciting to run into an A-list celebrity here, which is oftentimes very likely to occur in this hotspot.
4. Avenue (116 10th Avenue)
Less-than-pretentious, and top notch when it comes to party vibes, Avenue is a good spot to bump the night away (P.S., it's right around the corner from 1 Oak too).
They have a downstairs dance floor with booths and popping music, and an upstairs lounge area with arcade games (you know, where the music isn't quite as loud so an actual conversation is possible.)
The ambiance here cannot be surpassed, as the place is equipped with moving chandeliers and party lights.
Knowing a promoter here is really helpful (this veteran NYC doorman is super tough), as they can help you to score you an expensive-as-hell table with bottle service.
5. Cielo (18 West 12th Street)
One of the best no-nonsense dance clubs in NYC, Cielo makes up in quality what it lacks in space (when compared to other dance club counterparts, that is).
They also have a small outdoor patio that's really useful, especially if you need a break from the music.
But make no mistake about it, if you feel like busting moves to good house music, this is probably the best spot around. It's also a bit less pretentious than some other dance clubs, which is always a plus.
You'll probably have to drop a $25 cover, but you'll be grooving to famous DJs like DJ Francois and Def Mix's David Morales and Hector Romero, so it's definitely worth it.
By the way, the sound system is oftentimes regarded as one of the best in the entire city.
6. Gilded Lily (408 West 14th Street)

Right smack in the middle of the Meatpacking District, this club is definitely where it's at.
This club has unisex bathrooms, which could be excellent for hookin' up (but you definitely didn't hear that from us).
The chandelier in this club dances just like the patrons, twirling and vibing and changing color to the music, which is probably this spot's biggest draw.
,7. Marquee (289 10th Avenue)
With a rowdy, crowded dance floor, if you're looking to get turnt and dance so hard you'll forget your name, head over to Marquee.
With a gorgeous interior and a generous amount of seating, this is the perfect spot for your Saturday night.
They host a number of events on the weekends too, so if you want to get in on a weekend without a hassle or a line, you should buy a ticket. Or maybe even a bottle (or three).
8. No. 8 (357 West 16th Street)
This club is definitely on the swankier side, and you yourself will feel fancy once you're inside. It's also among the best of the best in terms of overall scene.
Downstairs blasts the hottest current music, while upstairs bumps hip-hop and 90s all night long.
If you're with your friends and want to scream song lyrics that everyone knows on the top of your lungs, get sweaty in the process, and down some shots after all that, this is where you should definitely hit up.
To get inside, it's also helpful to know someone and be dressed up-- as in, girls, wearing the highest pair of heels you own.
9. Ph-D (355 West 16th Street)
Located on the Penthouse Level at the Dream Downtown, the stunning views in this borderline-Meatpacking District rooftop bar will straight knock you off your feet.
To get in, you should act very in-the-know, proceed with confidence, and be especially kind to the bouncers.
Dance yourself wild, befriend someone with bottle service, and dress to the nines. If you do all that, you'll definitely have a blast.
The view is astonishing, and the drinks are pricey, but that makes you appreciate everything a little bit more, right?
10. Up & Down (244 West 14th Street)
If you hit up Up & Down on a weekend, you'll probably end up asking yourself, "Where are my keys, I lost my phone?"
If this happens, here's some simple advice: "Just dance."
Bottom line, this West 14th Street club is wild. Its upstairs section usually features hip-hop jams, while downstairs plays more of a variety. What this club loses in exclusivity, it gains in its allure to the more star-studded.
Oh, and heads up: showing up here with a big group is definitely not a good look, and will not get you anywhere near the door.
11. Space New York (637 West 50th Street)

If you love dancing but hate crowded lines, mean bouncers, and judgy people, Space New York is right for you. They occasionally bring in big name DJs like Nervo, Chuckie, and Victor Calderone, too.
Plus, this is a relatively new dance spot for NYC, and it shows.
It's clean, spacious, and sports both a friendly staff, and a lenient dress code.
If you're a guy though, you'll probably have to pay an entrance fee to get in here. Girls, however, usually get in for free.
Bottom line, head here on a weekend if you're looking to completely lose your heart and head right on the dance floor (figuratively speaking, of course).
12. Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street)

Girls & Boys at Webster Hall on Fridays features a crowd of over 3,000 wild dancers and DJs like Viceroy, Penguin Prison, and Power Slug in a grand ballroom flooded with neon lights.
The techno music here is usually bumping, the alcohol is flowing, people are sweating, dancing, and jumping, and we can't guarantee that they're at all sober.
