New York City has lately experienced a splurge in rooftop gardens and heavenly nature oases. And now, Brooklyn Grange has the rooftop farming game on lock.

Brooklyn Grange operates the world's largest rooftop soil farms, which are located on two roofs in NYC. Every year they grow over 50,000 lbs of organically-cultivated produce.

They also grow and distribute fresh local vegetables and herbs, provide urban farming and green roof consulting and installation, and partner with non-profits in NYC to promote healthy and strong communities.

And they're killing this rooftop farming thing. Last spring, they set out to double their acreage with larger rooftops, constructing a new rooftop farm in Brooklyn themselves.

In the video below, they stated the city is what made this all possible, "by being so overbuilt, and having all these impermeable surfaces that need sponges on them."

Now, Brooklyn Grange is growing vegetables in a completely unique way, immersed in a giant city filled with 8 million people to buy them. We think it's pretty amazing.
