Did you know that the Brooklyn subway has been around for 100 years now?
That's right, Monday was the subway's 100th birthday in Brooklyn. It's been a really great, great century of transport, MTA.
(And no, the subway didn't always have robot announcers and convenient fluorescent screens. What they used to have, though, were wicker seats and incandescent light bulbs.)
To celebrate their 100th Brooklyn birthday, the subway revitalized a vintage train that was used from 1927 to 1965, letting reporters take a ride.
But the reporters aren't the only ones who'll get to ride these old "nostalgia" trains.
This weekend, they'll be put into regular service from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., beginning at the Brighton Beach Q station. So if you want to travel back in time, get yourself somewhere along the Q line on Saturday or Sunday.
